Far Cry Primal Trailer

I’m not sure what Ubisoft was planning with their reveal of the next Far Cry yesterday, but whatever it was, it didn’t go according to plan. All day, Ubisoft had a running livestream going that showed a cave painting, and as it slowly zoomed out, more and more figures and beasts came into view.
The problem? Midway through the reveal, IGN Turkey leaked that the teaser was for a new game called Far Cry: Primal.
At that point, the jig was up, but Ubisoft kept going with the stream until the full painting was revealed and then…nothing. Today, the livestream has reset, and is zooming out yet again, but Ubisoft still hasn’t issued an official announcement about Far Cry: Primal yet, so far as I can tell.
And yet, I’m already worried about it.
That may seem a bit pessimistic, considering all we’ve seen is a cave painting, a screenshot and the title of the game, but I’m concerned that Far Cry: Primal is going to carry on the series’ tradition of recycling its old mechanics/models, and fail to move the series forward in a meaningful way.
When the teaser first started up, everyone thought that the long-rumored “Far Cry with dinosaurs” game was going to come to pass. But when it was revealed that the game is set in the Ice Age instead, that changes the equation, because guess what didn’t survive the Ice Age? Dinosaurs.
I’m not ruling out completely the fact that your caveman character might find some surviving pocket of dinosaurs somewhere, but if we’re judging by the cave painting, Ubisoft is staying in familiar territory for Far Cry: Primal, which many believe is an “in-between” style sub-game in the vein of Far Cry: Blood Dragon.
