If you've ever felt a sense of impending doom when sending a text, waited around by the phone for it to just not ring, or felt insecure because of a partner's actions, there's a big chance that you're the victim of someone’s mind games. Mind games are defined as calculated behaviors used to manipulate, intimidate, or undermine someones behaviors or belief in the validity of their own perceptions.
So, How do you know if your partner is playing mind games with you?
The truth is, it can be difficult to recognize mind games when youre really into someone and you like them.. ya know… when they do something questionable.. or when they blow you off or are non responsive, you’ll come up with a number of different excuses for their poor behavior… . So it’s tricky to recognize mind games when you’re emotionally involved, because It’s difficult to be objective and see what’s really happening.
But The bottom line is that if you think you’re seeing examples of mind games in your relationship, you probably are. So it always helps to get validation and examples to understand how and why people play mind games.
If you start a relationship with something toxic, the relationship will be toxic. It sets a poor precedent for being together and can only lead to worse situations.
If playing a game works and you enter into a relationship, both you and your partner will think acting this way works.
The farther into a toxic relationship like this, the more miserable both of you will be.
You’ll play games to get your way, push your partner to “prove their love,” and other unhealthy practices. Not only will you have to break away from this relationship, but it will make getting into a new, healthy, relationship more difficult.
As I’ve said before, games playing and Manipulative behavior is a HUGE red flag. New relationships should be exciting, passionate, and easy. Not anxiety provoking and frustrating.
If it starts out difficult, what makes you think it’s going to be easier or better later. The beginning should be the best, right? Ya know... the honeymoon phase.
Don’t settle for anything less. \ Remember, if you’re busy waiting, wondering, and worrying about this relationship, you just might miss the opportunity to meet the right one. Successful relationships require both partners to say what they feel, and mean what they say. If someone is inconsistent with you or playing mind games to manipulate you, congratulate them on winning their game and manipulating you right out of their life.
If you are familiar with mind games or manipulation that I haven’t mentioned, please share them with us in the comments below. Oh... and I’ll link to the other video on mind games here. Be sure to check that one out too.
