With the exception of a few characters from Far Cry 3 popping up in Far Cry 4's Kyrat, the general assumption is that each Far Cry game stands alone, lacking any significant narrative links. The thing is, I'm a massive Far Cry nerd and, after noticing numerous subtle details in Far Cry 4 that seemed to reference past games and characters, I decided to dig a bit deeper. After wading through the endless swamp of online speculation, I've got a pretty solid theory (I think) that not only ties the whole series together, but also points us toward a possible setting for Far Cry 5.
Before you press play I should warn you this video assumes you have at least a basic knowledge of the series. And a tin foil hat. Give it a watch and let me know your take on my findings in the comments below.
Above all though, don't take it too seriously - it's just a bit of fun.

Here's the update you've all been asking for! Follow the link to watch my theory video about how Far Cry Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal connect with the series. It's a bit wild, but the midway twist will make you go "Whoa!" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8VpSzt2yaU
My theory is that it starts with farcry blood dragon where nuclear war destroys the world and then continues till primal because of the blood dragon hidden in it and farcry 5 is going to restart it in a never ending loop where nuclear war starts the world gets destroyed and restarts then destroys itself again forever
Good thing we don't live in that timeline right
After watching this video i think Jackal is the real mastermind behind all of this conflict, also I agree with you Jackal and Jack are so similiar. I think Jackal planning all of is this since in Far Cry 2 he said "one one can kill me" in the first Far Cry game (Far Cry 1) Jack use an antitode thing i forgot what that is.
The setting on the survey is the Far cry 5 dlc?
A Far Cry game in a futuristic, sci-fi setting on another planet
A Far Cry game set in the Vietnam war during the 1960s
A Far Cry game that is set during a zombie outbreak
i’ve just watched this & Far Cry 5 has been out for awhile now. Longinus @9:30 said “they’re are many sins to atone for”. The Seeds are all about atoning Sins or whatever, but how did they get all of their guns? Longinus! he was the arms dealer of Far Cry 4. so does this mean the only way the Far Cry Series is connected is by Arms Dealers?
Okay I was just playing Far Cry 4, and did a mission for Longinus. He showed the Blood Diamonds, then said it meant that the weapon shipment to The Golden Path was coming. He also says he got shot in the head(Far Cry2, and was saved(Far Cry 2). You mentioned him getting saved, but he also said he was baptised in the Goka Falls, a location in Far Cry 2.
I’m posting this after far cry 5 came out; he said something about the lord calling him as we now know John seed rambles on about atonement of sins and such so my theory is that Jerome(the priest in falls end) is somehow linked with the priest that saved the arms dealer
In the end of farcry 2
When you meet the jackal one last time in the safe house...
You will notice that the jackal had a flare gun...
soo..either ways the jackal lives
And if he is connected to farcry 1 then he is connected to whole series..
