yes i played tomb raider 2013 with and older amd gpu (open-source driver) and it worked quite well overall .
Louigi Verona (10 months ago)
How are these "Linux games"? Rocket League is for Windows, Mac and PS4 and Steam Engine. That Steam Engine is capable on running on Linux does not make a game a "Linux game". Then anything I run successfully through WINE is also a Linux game?
Omega Rises (1 year ago)
Hufflepuff tie!
Abigail B. Barias (1 year ago)
I sadly have to use windows for college and gaming but you're convincing me to emigrate. PD: are you hufflepuff? (tie)
Edit Halk (1 year ago)
why don't you show screens or video's of the runners up as you announce?
Dmitriy Getman (1 year ago)
Should I buy non-free games?
MindTech (1 year ago)
can i play a multiplayer game if i am using linux while other players are using windows?
The Linux Gamer (1 year ago)
+MindTech usually. There are only a few games that don't allow it. They're mostly for technical reasons
FreeToBe (1 year ago)
Hey Gardener, what would you recommend for everyday average use, web browsing, some gaming capacities and customization on a laptop, Ubuntu 16.04 or 14.04?
Green Spaceman (1 year ago)
Man the quality of your videos just doesnt match your subscriber count! Keep up the good work. ;)
Anthony Gorman (1 year ago)
The Cloud I agree. its probably because hes a linux youtuber. 90 percent of the population dont know what linux is
TuxDigital (1 year ago)
Rocket League deserves the stuff it won for sure . . . I am totally addicted to that game. It is freaking awesome! :)
Mr Sammotube (1 year ago)
The most awesome thing is that so many good games were not mentioned which highlights the strength of the Linux gaming market.
Martell Tha Cool (1 year ago)
I will check out and saved up money for a Linux gaming PC
Pidde Bas (1 year ago)
Where could you vote for this? I've missed something clearly...
Awwkaw (1 year ago)

Roman King (1 year ago)

Lone Wolf (1 year ago)
For me the best linux game is War Thunder
Albert Cloete (1 year ago)
Amazing year for Linux gaming. Now I just need to find time to play some.
ezforsaken (1 year ago)
I agree with the results. I'd love to have Rust released as a 2016 title, but it still remains on Early Access.

Your telling me that rocket league beat Eve Online?....alright...
Robin Oger (1 year ago)
Rocket League freezes all the time on my Pc, I don't understand why... Ubuntu 16.10 RX 480
aiden9000 (1 year ago)
amdgpu-pro runs on almost all GNC cards including mine. Then for 16.10 try one of the ppa's to give you mesa upgrades. To have good performance on open drivers you need to have updates constantly. AMD drivers are not nearly as bad as people say they are, you just have to put a little work into setting up the best ones they have. Let me know if you need help.
Robin Oger (1 year ago)
There is only the amdgpu pro ompatible with the RX 480 and, as said before, I'm running on 16.10 :/
aiden9000 (1 year ago)
I play rocket league fine on ubuntu 16.04 with amdgpu-pro drivers installed with my r9 290. If you'd rather take the open source route the Podoka ppa or the Oibaf ppa are your best friend on 'Buntu distros.
Robin Oger (1 year ago)
I'm on the latest version of ubuntu, the 16.10, and I guess, that it uses the last kernel. But since it's not the lts version, I guess it's cause of that.
Miguel Sensacion (1 year ago)
what kernel are you running? The AMD drivers are getting better and better.
Aaron Morris (1 year ago)
I, for one, love your videos. They're clean, proffessional, and have just the right amount of cheesy charm. :) Keep up the great work!

+The Linux Gamer No problem, man! :D
The Linux Gamer (1 year ago)
Thank you! :)
Soy Fish (1 year ago)
That's an awesome list. It's exciting to think that games will come to Linux in 2017 and beyond!
Dmitriy Getman (1 year ago)
First of all you should care about game engines, they must support Vulkan and Wayland, linux lacks engines, not games itself.
ted belcher (1 year ago)
each with there own 2015 release date
The Linux Gamer (1 year ago)
12 of the 19 games on this list were released on all PC platforms this year. Thanks for the question, though!
ted belcher (1 year ago)

What is the difference between Ubuntu with GNOME 3 and Ubuntu GNOME?
T. Neulaender (1 year ago)
Some core-libraries which got installed for unity but are useless for gnome3 and vice versa :).
Fairy C Rat (1 year ago)
Ale Funguju Well, yeah.
Generic Green Squid (1 year ago)
The fact that a lot of these games were already out on PC months or a year ago says something about the viability of Linux gaming. (not hating on linux players, just saying) And combine that with the compatibility issues, performance decreases and the lack of big hitters like Fallout or Battlefield 1, you can see that Linux still has a *looooong* way to go being an ideal replacement for Windows. (sorry Linus, your operating system is awesome and all, but that's just how it is)
Dmitriy Getman (1 year ago)
It's better than windows/mac jail.
Generic Green Squid (1 year ago)
+Jean Carlos Please show me the part of my comments where I said that Linux is stupid. I'd like to know.
Generic Green Squid (1 year ago)
+Dhust Where did I say that linux is stupid? And I *have* kept it for just gaming. I never said linux doesn't have any other useful ways to be implemented. I think you've misread my comment! I also like the fact that you've mentioned the fact that I called it an OS, which is completely irrelevant! (At this point I'm intentionally gonna say 'linux operating system' just to piss of people like you') "you are nothing more than another stupid user." Aww, this one warms my heart! Since I only mentioned games, I'm obviously stupid! DAE gamers are kids amirite?! Also... LINUX OS LINUX OS LINUX OS LINUX OS
Fairy C Rat (1 year ago)
Jean Carlos That's a common mistake.
Jean Carlos (1 year ago)
His comment was CLEARLY stupid calling linux an operatin system in the first place.
cody thedragonrude (1 year ago)
tomb raider 2013 really? BUT SHE HATES TOMBS!!!! i was surprised by dues ex mankind divided personally that was like a new game not a years old game getting a linux release that's just unheard of
Énio Fernandes (1 year ago)
That might be, but if you read any review of mankind divided you also read that the game is pretty short and unfinished. If any future DLC will fix that, I'll buy it then, if not, I probably won't even touch it. After all, human revolution is not on linux so I couldn't care less about a sequel, and a short one at that.
cody thedragonrude (1 year ago)
+Énio Fernandes DLC is never going to go away because people will continue to buy it just to complain about it which makes zero sense
Énio Fernandes (1 year ago)
And with such bad reviews I still won't touch it possibly for another year until they release the whole DLC so I can play the full game, if they ever do it. The current DLC is pretty much a joke, as are the micro-transactions.
