MrDeathprof Obviously not. PS4 has been out for 4 years almost. They're not gonna limit themselves and keep making games for PS3

the water and the shaddows are awesome

Reasons why the PS1 version is better: -Butterflies and dragonflies -Water animation is darker. That's more realistic. -The leaves are bouncy when you step of them. In the PS4 version, they look like rocks. This is truly one of my favorite childhood games so I thought the graphics are very important. It's so perfect and top-notch for its time. I like the PS4 graphics too but in order for it to beat the original, it should've followed those details a bit more faithfully.

Crash seems a bit bigger in proportion to the crates. I don't know if this is good or bad.
Mark Fuzuzu (1 year ago)
Yeah. They definitely fucked up the atmosphere of the bonus stages. Look how washed out it looks. The feeling of the original did a great job of convincing you that you were actually in some cool canopy in the sky. Look at those subtle pink tints the clouds had and how lush and contrasting the trees looked! Urgh. Bits of this remake are looking like a Unity project, honestly.

Things I don't like/hate: 1) Motion blur 2) Animation is not as good for a lot of things, overall lack of polish (this one is my pick for most likely to be fixed by release, out of these complaints) 3) Colors are not as good, lighter, washed out looking, perhaps the motion blur is adding to the washed out feel, but the colors look bad 4) Easier level design (all over these pre-release videos. Slower mines in Crash 2 water, plants flinch before they snap, etc. Key elements of the levels have been made globally easier, meaning the levels will likely be significantly easier) 5) Crash not nearly as appealing as PS1; animation, expression, model, even some death animations 6) Lighting is unappealing. There was no need to add shadows cast by trees in the bonus, in Crash 2 the corridors at the end of level have barely any shadows. The PS1 Crash games had manual shadows, there was no real-time shadows, the designers manually added them. This approach looks leagues better. These problems overall create a creepy, artificial looking game, and easier (point 4). It serves to "deflate" the overall experience. Note that these are my opinions based on the footage I've seen, and may be fixed by release or not as bad as I think they are. In any case the old games still look great to this day and the only solid upgrade I feel good about is relics for all three games. Not sure if I'll buy this game, we'll see how it turns out..
xXSilentAgent47Xx (1 year ago)
I agree but i think most of the time motion blurs are on because they can't hold enough details on the screens. For example GTA 5, WD2 and MGS 5 have motion blurs, but GTA 5 on PC motion blur can be disabled. I wish there's an option on menu to turn off motion blurs. Also i think video details be a bit decreased when they're uploaded on YouTube, i've noticed it on couple of gameplays.

The animation timing is slicker on PS1, everything on the PS4 version just looks too smoothed out. Just look at the punchy "CHECK [trail off] POINT [traol off]" that appears above the C box on PS1 to the single smooth, tweened movement on PS4's "CHECKPOINT." The PS1 has sharper colours and better lighting, it's like the PS4 team were able to be lazier with the lighting because they have better lighting and contrast technologies. And Crash's movements on PS1 were springier and more elastic and exaggerated like a drawing, new Crash's rigor mortis dips him into uncanny valley/mannequin territory. To recreate something one-to-one with the original is always a huge undertaking and will never be perfect because of different work styles and art styles and tools, and to their credit, I can't imagine anyone doing a much better job on what little time I assume they were given(I can't imagine Sony gave them more than 2 years to do this). And it looks like they're really trying to capture the style of the original. But I won't be buying a PS4 for this when I'm still in awe of the godly design and animation choices in the originals and trying to figure out how they did it.
N. ONYMOUS (1 year ago)
Yea I'm with you here, I've contemplated buying a PS4, waiting for a Crash announcement to do so, but I'm just not at all moved by the art/visual style of the remakes. I didn't at all expect a 1:1 copy of the originals, but the overall aesthetic of the remakes just doesn't move me enough to buy a whole console for. The originals are visually superior by a wide margin. Although different technologies/tools were used I feel the main issue is the art direction chosen by VV and/or Activision. I know it's based off the originals but it's just missing something imo.
Yago Kain (1 year ago)
the only "bad" thing i see in the new one is that interesting yellowish tint in the picture, it kinda ruins that old, jungle theme. but other than that its a pretty solid remaster of the original game.

El de ps1 es más realista
Matt London (1 year ago)
XrandomX what is realistic about a platforming orange marsupial anyway
The HR (1 year ago)
I hate how the auto water plant snappers attack very slowly. Compared to the original, the remake seems too easy since you can't die by these snappers if you have a mask. Nonetheless, I hope the game in June will bring me back to memory lane.

The water graphics look better on the PS1 version......
Aura Guardian (1 year ago)
The "clear" water shouldn't look better to you here as it doesn't match the aesthetic of Crash's world nor the fiction aspect (which is almost the same point). If the OG Crash game's water had more clarity, it wouldn't even be up for any form of debate. The new Crash only looks remotely good because it has clarity/visibility. Let a mod touch up the water graphics and you'll properly see how it should be done.
Aura Guardian Well, maybe it doesn't look cartoony enough, but I like the water here. The water in Tomb Wader, however, looks better in the original
Mark Fuzuzu (1 year ago)
InsomniacHS dumb. There's no such thing as an objective fact when it comes to something being better or worse. This apples to you as well, Aura Guardian. It's called an opinion, friends. If someone doesn't like something for whatever reason, that is their reason and it is valid. None of you are correct, because all of you are correct, so stop this pointless "debate" if you can even call it that. Because, all these arguments boil down to are idiots repeating their stances but to no avail: "NO, THIS WAY IS BETTER, JUST BECAUSE!", "NO, _THIS_ WAY IS BETTER, OBJECTIVELY!!" It's literally not even an argument. You can not prove something to be objective when it is not objective, and never could be. Objective: _(of a person or their judgement) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts._ lol dumb dumb. Also Insomniac, way to set up straw men. AuraGuardian never said Crash had been bad since Bash. And also, way to just completely throw any sort of credibility you had (well, you had none anyway) out the window by insulting him out of nowhere.
Aura Guardian (1 year ago)
InsomniacHS Facts are not needed at times where common sense suffices. I already explained myself, dipshit. It's not rocket science to figure out the remake has a more realistic design, but within the theme/world/genre of Crash, the PS1 Water effects AND my comment are objectively better and fine respectively. The PS1 graphics captures that fantasy/cartoony aspect - the reason why I said it looks better, to which your stupid, closeminded ass could not put the pieces to figure that out - unlike the current remake graphics that look too realistic, even with the remakes slightly more realistic re-design. Your entire post is literally BS, you just lied and twisted several things I said. 1. I clearly did acknowledge the graphics look better (as in realism) in the remake. 2. Why the hell did you bring Crash Bash into this, and how did you come up with the idiotic idea that I think Crash hasnt been good since Bash? 3. How am I cringeworthy, and a fanboy? You clearly have a superiority complex and are delusional. And the people who like your dumbass post clearly did mot read what you said, as your post is stupidly inconsistent.
InsomniacHS (1 year ago)
Actually, I'm not "closeminded". You DID NOT gave any objective facts how the water graphics looked "better" on the PS1 until Skittle Corn came here and written a starnge reason to think, that the PS4 graphics are "worse" because it didn't look that cartoony. Given the visually strong differences, your comment is not fine, it's actually aggressively pointless. "I'd be a bold moron to say the remakes actually has more realistic water. " Excuse me, but you ARE a bold moron because you are not managed to accept the fact that animation and water graphics look better in a remake than in the original, and you're another cringe-worthy fan who is trying to make the illusion that Crash Bandicoot has never been good since Crash Bash.

Sorry to nitpick only 3 things that I dislike from this gameplay xD 1. The lilypads when you jump on them don't flex like in the ps1 2 The Diamond Platforms look abit odd 3. The boxes in the bonus go a little too dark other than that love everything else sorry to be nit picky xD I make cartoons and im always nitpicking evrything this will probs be fixed though just like everything else
Mark Fuzuzu (1 year ago)
For some reason they've used the platform design from 2, instead of using 1's, which looked like actual gemstones. Probably down to laziness- reusing assets across all three games rather than remaining consistent with the originals. Or, maybe they wanted all three to feel coherent, who fucking knows. And yeah, the originals just have nicer detail in general, like the lily pads flexing, as you say.

The graphing in the ps4 looks bland like look at the ps1 it's colourful hopefully the developers put a good final texture

That would be the apsect ratio of the PS1 being smaller than PS4, so the image had to be stretched out to compare them both at 16:9 ratios

Crash means a lot to me and I feel like this is going to be a proper remake, even though I personally prefer the originals on PS1.
+Livin' Like Larry I am not one of those people who complain about that one leaf or color, I agree they are annoying. So far, I like many things about the remake, but I'll tell you what I think is bad so far, and you tell me if they're nitpicks or not: 1- they tuned down the challenge and difficulty level of the platforming (or so I heard). 2- The intro cutscene has a horrible voice acting (at least compared to the voice acting in the original intro). 3- The floppy animation and comedic effect in the intro doesn't fit the theme of cortex being as sinister and evil as he is and ruins the atmosphere. 4- The soundtrack of the sunset vista level doesn't fit with the theme. 5- In the gameplay, Crash has that stupid smile that makes him look like an idiot (I don't care that much about this one tbh). 6- I kinda wish they made Tawna as sexy looking as she was in the original but I also don't care that much about this too. Everything else is fantastic so far and better than I expected. I know for sure the gameplay and controls will be way better, so don't worry about that.
Livin' Like Larry (1 year ago)
Yes they are being closed minded, I dont like that either. As long as you are not saying "OMG the leaves arent the same shade of green, n sane sucks" All I'm saying you can't knock it till you try it. Well so far all we have to comment on the n sane trilogy is literally graphics. The N sane trilogy is adding so much more to Crash particularly the first game. Time trials, better save system, analog for crash 1 etc. We havent seen this yet but sounds awesome. If Crash handles terribly then this game will flop. If he handles perfectly, then I can see myself liking this game better possibly because it will be fresh as I've played the originals to death.
+Livin' Like Larry So people calling me a "Nostalgic whore" just because I prefer certain things in the originals isn't being closed minded? Because I've been getting that a lot. I actually love the remake, I don't hate it, but people need to calm their tits! I meant in my last sentece that most people nowadays would prefer a game over another JUST because the graphics are better, which is sad.
Livin' Like Larry (1 year ago)
Of course I would be fine if someone prefers the original once the game is released. The whole point here is im keeping an open minded and not resorting to your closed minded bullshit. I have a feeling I might like the originals better, but I will not comment on that until the game is out. You dont know until you have played! Ever sit around with friends while they play a game and its not really fun until you get a chance? Lastly, your last sentence makes zero sense and I dont know what your talking about.
+Livin' Like Larry So will you fine if someone says they prefer the original after the game is released? I doubt that! We've seen enough amount of the first game already (about 4 or 5 levels with bonus rounds and the intro cutscene). Which is more than enough to judge. Only the mass would prefer a game based on the graphics only.

+ECDT1089 I don't think that this video is meant to show just the graphics. Both sides are minimized to the point where it's difficult to compare the graphics quality. The purpose of these videos is to compare not only the visual graphics but aesthetics, 3D models, animations, sounds, etc. (All except the gameplay of course).
+ECDT1089 Please read my entire comment because I addressed everything.
