What are your memories of the original Bard's Tale games?

Exploring a world never before experienced by humans. Far too dramatic a response? Trust me, the actuality and impact of Bards Tale cannot be overstated, for the first time players could interact in a 3D environment laid out in a fully realised large town as a party of six. When you entered the Guild or a Tavern you really felt the place existed and yet today, we would laugh at the graphics but back then Bards Tale was the absolute bleeding edge in gaming fidelity. Ultima Underworld followed in 1992 with further advancements in 3D but Bards Tale will always be remembered as a labour of love by masters of their craft.

I like how passionate some creators are when they talk about their creations.

Promising game. But think they should've stuck to real time combat for the wider audience.

You can have deep real-time combat. Look at games like Deus Ex or System Shock 1 and 2. But for this type of game, Turn-Based is the way to go.
Eisberg 77 (3 months ago)
No. Turn based tens to be far deeper combat systems. If they went with real time then it would be basically dumbing it down.

A wider audience is not going to stop chugging Mountain Dew and playing Fortnite to play a game called The Bard's Tale.

Julien Tenkanen ah too bad I missed the game at it's core. The game in 2004 was good fun tho

That Bard's Tale you played on the PS2 was just a spin-off. This game is a spiritual successor to the original trilogy, not a sequel to a spin-off.
