Is it just a gimmick? Now that we have some perspective, did the Switch meet expectations? How well does it hold up in the real world?

There isn’t that much games, indies or cool an all and I think they’re best played on the switch. Somehow making indie games I already played (sonic mania, fucking love that game) portable makes it more enjoyable... but there still indies. I bought the WII U day 1 and it had decent 3rd party support at the beginning but when they abandoned ship and let Nintendo be the sole distributer of AAA games I was stuck playing a remake of Zelda wind waked and smash bros an that was it. Now that every 3rd party seems to acknowledge the switch in some form or fashion I was confident in buying it FOR the future it might have. But as of right now Mario, Zelda, and Sonic just aren’t enough. They need more games that appeal to the mass market (sorry bayonetta fans) or like you said put the damn virtual console on switch already to hold us over. I’m jus getting flashbacks of the WII U’s game drought (from first AND third party) and can’t help but be worried just a little bit but still I have faith in the switch if they play there cards right like they have been doing so far.
Yes, its absolutely worth it. This opened to a new world of gaming. It can have GTA V on it on lower graphics, since they did the PC version, its all already coded the right way. I can almost say they are going to have a cloud system to the switch.
At this point in time the only thing keeping the switch going is the fact that its not the wii u. Now what im about to say includes ps4 & xbone, games are taking to long to drop. The switch as of now only has 2 big hits mario & zelda, & im sorry but im not buying a console to play 2 games. I can list a number of multi-plat games on ps4 xbone & pc along side exclusives & it trumps the switch, at this point nintendo fans are praising a mario n64 clone & dark souls wanna be zelda. Also i dont see people in public with switches so these consoles are moving from living room to bedroom mostly. I think personally the only reason the switch is selling is cuz its just not the wii u. The switch is showing all the same symptoms except people are praising wiiu ports & 2 average games at BEST. nintendo needs to do better but they wont.
I'm not buying it because my parents are very strict with how I spend my money and I might have to wait till the summer for my parents to let me buy it. However if I do that, my parents might just buy the switch for me, or at least the games, so Im debating whether to try and get it now, or at the end of school (late June)
I want the switch but like, a lot of nintendo games on it so far has mostly been re-releases from the Wii U to the Switch. Which is fine tbh, I don't really mind buying at least some of those re-released games just that
I want to be seeing more new/fresh games instead. Sure we have a good selection of them, just, I want more ._.
Of course we are getting Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4, but I want *MORE-*
not worth it. I can play my ps4 remotely on my ps Vita and I got a Gazillion games for ps4. I got Doom for free on PS4 and I would have to pay $40 for it on Switch, a lot of these types of things come up. Switch is way overrated.
Thank you for your awesome facts of the Nintendo Switch. I had my doubts for the system, however I am thinking of trading it for my PS4. Also a quick question, did you ever had neck problems when playing the Nintendo Switch?
switch hits the sweetspot for me
-nintendo makes games that remind me of my childhood
-exclusive games are challenging and fun
-gameplay first, then graphics
-i already have a PC, why would i buy a stupid "PC in a box" console (ps4,xbox) just to play generic exclusives or games that are also on PC, besides the terrible gameplay most exclusives have. its such a graphics>gameplay age for PS and Xbox
-the portability is amazing, idc what people say about the controller being inconvenient, it's probably the best solution from nintendo and all it takes is a few hours of playing to get used to
Really thinking about picking one up. Worth it for someone with a PS4? I primarily have stuck with Sony for most of my life but I get so much nostalgia from my SNES I had when I was younger. Kinda thinking it’s time to scratch the Nintendo itch.
Mike G agreed, I love my ps4, but theres one issue: I can't play Nintendo games, I love horizon and uncharted but I also love mario and Zelda. I really want to get a switch for those SWEET Nintendo exclusives
Only bitch Nintendo?, Bitch we gave praise for Metroid returns, Odyssey and Breath of the wild....BUT as consumers we must bitch about other stuff so they do something like the app or the bad Paper Mario games or low stock of "Classics" consoles
I'm deployed and brought my Switch with me. BEST DECISION EVER!!! I freakin love this thing!!! My wife ordered super Mario Odyssey for me and I had it beat in about 20 hrs. Brilliant game, impeccable level design and a vision to behold on the small 720p screen.
