Which new feature are you most excited to try out in Pillars of Eternity II?

AI on companions and boat system

AI in poe 1 i had such a gripe with my cipher taking over an enemy and then my priest healing it! good god! it drove me to near insanity.

New and improved companion gameplay, graphics, owning a ship and being at high seas.

Im really interested in seeing the new companion relationships. Having played most of Biowares titles, the companions in PoE felt rather shallow to me and their relationship to the PC was rather artifical imo.

The improved companion AI would be my first pick. But there is much more I'm looking forward to as well -- multi-classing, the new skill system (especially the multiple "speech" skills!), ship combat. It looks to be a fine improvement on what was already a fantastic RPG.

Damn, I still need to finish the first game.

I'd suggest finishing it, the third act is only like 3 hours long so it's not as long as u might think.

Can't fucking wait for this game

'classic rpg' is not a genre and nostalgia is the death of creativity. you want a good modern isometric rpg? divinity original sin series has you covetered. otherwise what you *actually* want is to play baldurs gate over and over and if thats what youre into... good for you. I for one want to see what actually new and fresh things can be done with isometric rpgs. and im kinda done with old dudes wanking to their nostalgia and regurgitating the same boring old mechanics as 20 years ago lol

Turn based combat is a huge turn off for me. I prefer the pseudo turn based combat with pause a lot more. Also Divinity original sin isn't anything groundbreaking or new. Its essentially Arcanum...With not as interesting of a setting. P.S Not saying its bad just pointing out the ridicules amounts of hypocrisy.

Name a substantial difference between Pillars and Divinity besides the combat engine and art style?

Pretty sure CRPG IS a real genre. You can't just say something and expect it to be taken at face value. Besides, most RPGs of the Baldur's Gate time period that are so different from RPGs today they deserve to have their own genre. No, wanting a game like Baldur's Gate isn't the same thing as wanting to play Baldur's Gate over and over again. Pillars 1 brought so many new things to the table on top of just having stabler engine and more updated graphics. You aren't making an actual review of the game, you're just fanboying over another good game and thinking this game has no right to exist because of it.

And birds.

Voice acting? Sorry I just don't buy games to read, buy books to play, or buy a car to pedal to work. Also I look down on any established company, especially those who have developed AAA titles in the past, using fund raising. Developer uses fund raising, they have officially become an indie company. Just like a hard working person who stops and decides they'd rather beg for money on the corner instead are officially unemployed.

There's so much stupid in one comment I can't.. first of all who the fuck realistically gives up and begs for money unless their life has gone total shit? You got any empathy for people? Kid you sound like a spoiled brat and likely havent really struggled a day in your life. Second Obsidian has had funding issues since forever and backer money is being used to produce a product triple A studios simply find to risky to produce thus leaving a market and funding gap they have to fill.. also really reading is an issue? This game has both read only text and voice acting both of which are personal preferences not video game design absolutes... don't buy it.

What sort of begging is that if in return for your money you get the finished product itself, often some exclusive merchandise, mention in credits and so on?
wongoli wongo (2 months ago)
I think turned to fundraising as an experiment since this genre is very niche. It's risky to develop an older styled game and have it compete with more modernized rpgs. If the first PoE didn't do well I think Obsidian would have turned towards a different direction.
Cade Calryn (2 months ago)
Spawn Cap Well this was pretty ignorant. The reason for fund raising is so they won't have any AAA Publishers to fund them and thus have more creative freedom. So there won't be any rushed titles or cut content, which has happened to Obsidian for most of the games they have had published (*cough* KOTOR II *cough* Alpha Protocol *cough*). Now, they're free to make exactly the type of game they wanted. If DICE had done this for Battlefront 2, there wouldn't have been any lootboxes. As for the reading in a game... what the hell is wrong with it? It's a way to cut down on costs and give more imaginative freedom to the player. Not only that, but its a nice throwback to old CRPGs like Baldur's Gate, which is exactly what this game is trying to accomplish.

Not a fan of pirates so I’m not gonna buy this
Mr9TalesFox (2 months ago)
It's not about pirates. Well game probably have some pirates in it, but main plot is about finding god Eothas. This game about choices and I am certain you can play as not pirate.
Johnathan Era (2 months ago)
Aki777craft not everyone on a boat is a pirate...
Jake Branthe (2 months ago)
That's sort of a petty reason to not buy this game. This game isn't even about pirates. Did a pirate do something to traumatize you when you were a child?
Jean~Luc Picard (2 months ago)
Pirates aren't the only people who sail on ships, they're a minority in fact.
Koeras (2 months ago)
Pirates? isnt your approach kinda childish ?
