Good call on the Prey storyline instead of the one in dark knight rises.
Spencer Welch (6 months ago)
Actually The Wulff Den, The story 'Images' in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #50, which came out 9/93 tells of the 1st encounter between Batman and Joker. https://comicvine.gamespot.com/batman-legends-of-the-dark-knight-50-images/4000-37737/

No man's land is good, but Knight fall is better
Raymond Myers (11 months ago)
Good list. Props to you for including Prey. Thats my favorite batman story. After seeing this Im definitely going to check out face the face.

I recently read Face to Face and I was really underwhelmed. I mean, Tim Drake and his scenes were certainly nice, and the murder mystery element was cool, but I ended up not really liking the whole ending and every time Harvey Dent was on screen, or page. SPOILERS: I think I would've enjoyed the story a lot more if I hadn't already seen it. The whole story was just familiar, but where have I seen it before? SPOILERS FOR LONG HALLOWEEN: Both stories contain a murder mystery, with the killer going around killing villains In both stories, Harvey Dent is a suspect In both stories, Harvey Dent is innocent, but in the process of finding the killer, Harvey Dent becomes Two Face And when they take down the real killer, the actual final boss is Two-Face off doing stuff Plus, the killer being the Great White Shark? I mean, yeah the clues were there, but...really? Me, being the fan that I am, knew who the Great White Shark was, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the people who read that book, maybe even Batman fans, not knowing who the Great White Shark is. I mean he's not very well known. Hell, I only knew him from the character bio in Arkham Asylum. And he never showed up throughout the entire story so it's not like people can just go, "Oh. That guy." Nope. If you didn't read any stories with him or solved the riddle in Arkham Asylum, and hell, even remember the bio, you'll have no idea who was the main villain of the entire story. It baffles me how they didn't think they would need to establish him earlier, or make it someone more recognizable like the Penguin, or the Riddler. Well, IMO if the story wasn't just a retelling of the Long Halloween, and if the whole murder mystery ending was done better, I might have liked it more.

Batma Ego is also a GREAT story, you should read it!
The little cuties (1 year ago)
Ok some of these are on my shopping list
SAMCRO Till I Die (1 year ago)
Hey Will. I know this is an old vid but I have a small question. What is Road to No Mans Land. I know what Cataclysm and No Mans Land is but what exactly is ROAD to Know Mans Land.
Absolute Gurkha (1 year ago)
Batman - Black Mirror has to be the darkest Batman comic Ive read, and absolutely fantastic. One that I'll definitely read again. The Earth One series is great too, only two so far but I hear a third is coming out soon.
Absolute Gurkha (1 year ago)
The hardest Alfred for sure...
SAMCRO Till I Die (1 year ago)
Absolute Gurkha I loved Earth One book one. It has the best alfred imo.
Dredd Bustya (1 year ago)
The Dark Knight Returns ain't overrated. Have you read the run-of-the-mill comics? They have a knack of telling you how important the character is. P.S. I think the most underrated Batman story is Prey, beautifully gothic and creepy.
Robert T (3 months ago)
Raymond Myers . It seems you described how it is overrated, so thanks for clarifying that.
Raymond Myers (11 months ago)
I agree 100 percent. Prey is my favorite story too. And TDKR is far from overrated, its a masterpiece buuut i also know what OP meant by that. Its frustrating that its so highly regarded to the point that the rest of batmans rich history goes unacknowledged.

My Top Underrated Batman Comics:Batman-Legends of the Dark Knight:Shaman;Batman-Night Cries; The Ten Nights of the Beast;Legends of the Dark Knight:Venom; The Cult. Not necessarily in this order.

Thank you or these recommendations. I am quite new to the Batman comic world so would you say that "Broken City" and "Haunted Knight" are underrated and/or worth buying as well? I am not under the impression that these two are praised by many. However, since I am German I looked for Top 10-Batman Comics lists on German websites too and I came across two lists. One included "Broken City" and the other one included "Haunted Knight". Those weren't "Top 10 underrated Batman Comics" lists by the way. I really enjoyed "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory" so I guess "Haunted Knight" could be a safe choice right?

+The Wulff Den Fuck You!!!
WULFF DEN (2 years ago)
+SoulTrain I wouldn't recommend Brocken City. Haunted Knight is very different from Long Halloween and Dark Victory but still a fun read.
Beverly Marsh (2 years ago)
tbh i thibk made of wood is better then the man who laughs
Baker Ward (2 years ago)
Batman No Man's Land sounds awesome
Future Venom Zone (2 years ago)
A Lonely Place of Dying By Marv Wolfman and George Perez is a great story that I feel is underrated, it features the first appearance of Tim Drake and even gives reasoning to one of the criticisms of Batman v Superman. And if you're a Robin hater then it might change you're opinion
Norman Smith56 (1 year ago)
Dragon Ballzzz Deep that robin was Dick Grayson
Dragon Ballzzz Deep (2 years ago)

Gothic is the best to me and cult and shaman
John Shortt (2 years ago)
you sir have incredible taste
Rustin Cohle (3 years ago)
Don't know if you left it out because you don't favour it or because DG is Batman in it, but The Black Mirror is fantastic. Gordon's son coming back and the whole gritty, extremely dark undertone of the book is played out to perfection for me. Although, for a first timer I'd imagine seeing DG in the cowl might be confusing. Good list though, mate!
Super Lord (3 years ago)
Nice list man, you gave me some great recommended reading. I was wondering if you could do the same thing for superman as I see the same stories posted on top ten list, and hey why stop there?
Dalton Moen (3 years ago)
As someone who's always aspired to start a comic book collection and just started one yesterday (Batman Year One, Arkham Asylum and Knightfall Broken Bat) What should I get. I've written down on a list the essentials like Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, Hush, Man Who Laughs, Killing Joke, Noel, Civil War, Walking Dead, Death in the Family (Both Versions), Death of Superman collections, certain Star Wars comics and others. Can whoever sees this type comments that say what other essential comics are. I'm a huge nerd for almost everything, so Deadpool, Spiderman, Star Wars, Superman and ESPECIALLY Batman. Please I just want the essentials and thank you
Cee-Note12 (3 years ago)
Dude how do your vids not have more views?! Your comic knowledge is solid and you seem like a pretty cool guy. I think your vids rock!! Anyone of ever tell you ya look kinda like Jason Lee from My Name is Earl? He's a big comic fan too btw
WULFF DEN (3 years ago)
+Mayor McTroma First i've been told I look like Jason Lee but I'll take it!
Sohom Bhattacharjee (3 years ago)
Agree with you but what about Shaman and Gothic? That should've been on the list.
WULFF DEN (3 years ago)
+Sohom Bhattacharjee You're right. totally forgot about those! Great reads
DizzyWolf01 (3 years ago)
Face the Face appears to be out of publication?
That DC Guy (2 years ago)
There's a new trade coming in 2017 which I believe is Batman by James Robinson (I think), which will contain the story! cause it's the over of the trade I believe. I seen it on Amazon as I regularly check. I'd check it out if I were you :)
WULFF DEN (3 years ago)
+DizzyWolf01 Is it? Shit, hunt that one down while you can!
Hunter Graham (3 years ago)
Thank you for this video it was extremely informative and I really appreciate it
DizzyWolf01 (3 years ago)
I totally agree that Dark Knight Returns is the most overrated Batman story. It's not even that I was disappointed because of overhype either because I got it under the premise that it was good and thought it was ok, only to find that it is considered one of the best Batman stories ever told... Hm.
Robert T (3 months ago)
DizzyWolf01 . I think it's pretty subjective. Even if someone loved the book, it's overrated because it's so highly regarded it casts a shadow on the rest of the stories.
Ahsoka Tano (3 years ago)
Most underrated batman comic: The Cult
Absolute Gurkha (1 year ago)
I agree, a great Batman comic. Got it on .cbr but ordered it and will pick it up when I next go back to UK. One of my favorite Batman comics for sure.
WULFF DEN (3 years ago)
+Gray Fox It's on my must read list. I have it, but it's in my backlog
DetroitMadman (3 years ago)

glidingwithancientgr (3 years ago)
This is exactly what I was looking for!! SO refreshing to get some recommendations/reviews of some great batman comics that aren't the usual top 10. I would love to see a part2 of this video!... Please
Fragrance Tattoo (3 years ago)
The Man Who Laughs is one of must read. Don't understand why is not so well known as others.
Thunder Goku (1 year ago)
Fragrance Tattoo It is but it’s ranked much lower compared to most Bat-books
Monish Corona (4 years ago)
