Tip: when you go to goopys tree when you get in to the fight do this on fase sorry for spelling 1&2 at the beginning of the fight when it says ready duck and you won't get hit by him if you have smoke dash use it on the 3 fase of goopy
Oh man it's just so easy to get completely taken over by the fact that the game is so challenging. I'm always up for a challenge in video games but cuphead is a different story! It took 70h+ but I managed to get all S-Rank and P-Rank completion (200%). I recorded it all as well, with commentary, I've got a relatively small gaming channel and would love some support/feedback for some, or any videos :)
My strategy: Remapping my controller so I don't cramp my right hand. My config: RT for the shot, RB for the dash, LT for the fixed shot, LB for the special attack, and I leave the A button for the jump.
For all my lady gamers/guy gamers with longer hair:
- Open custom controls menu
- Change shoot button to RT
- Get a scrungie/hair tie
- Wrap scrungie/hair tie around RT, now you have an extra finger to work with! If you do it right it won't interfere with your controls, lol.
Also, I can't stress enough the importance of customizing your controls in general. If you die more than twice in a row during a run-n-gun stage, it's probably because you're wasting time/attention on the neutral control scheme. When you're in the overworld try customizing and then test your new controls out on the tutorial "stages" or the run-n-gun sections
4:53 I have trouble on the snake and bull attack on the slot machine. Ribby and Croak’s 2nd stage is easy with long range weapons. Also, I always mess up with smoke bomb because I always land on an enemy.
Another quick tip (which I took a long time to learn somehow), is that you should start parrying right before you get to the object you can parry. This way, you don't need exact timing to parry it, and it's just a bit easier.
You underestimated the chaser. Against later bosses (especially Rumor Honeybottoms), it comes in extremely useful as you focus on dodging the attacks and platforming. While the boss is in a tough position to hit, chaser is great.
It would nice if the tutorial told you to to hit the link objects. I’m struggling with the slot machine and had no idea I was suppose to hit the hand till I died several times. Any other enemy seems to be you can hit them then they throw that in there to screw you up.
i bought the game 3 days ago and i beat the root pack, loopy de grande i also beat the frist run n gun level but i got stuck at the ribby and croaks fight but i got really REALLY close thanks to these tips thank's a lot for the tricks and i hope you make another video with more tips
These tips are okay for the first world, but the tip to never stop firing? Usually sound, but it will get you murdered in some levels during isle 2. Try it against Grim Matchstick, he'll kill you in no time.
Another tip: When you're on the part when you're facing the bull on "Threatnin' Zeppelin" you have to move to the bottom of the screen when it attacks you so it won't attack you. It makes that phase easier.
The Roundabout EX move is REALLY good for Ribby and Croaks first phase, if you fire it when right in fornt of them it buzzsaws out and hits them like 6 times, plus the EX move can also be useful in the second phase since you can minupulate where it flies by moving around
I feel like I would recommend the chaser weapon for early game. It is very underpowered, yes. BUT, it can home in on enemies, allowing you to take them down without firing. Of course, the chaser doesn't have a use for everything. Grim Matchstick, for example. The peashooter does a lot better here than the chaser, as the boss is almost covering the right side of the screen. As for his 2nd & 3rd phases, I would recommend the roundabout. It will do good damage in this phase, due to you having to move the opposite way of the dragon. The roundabout is a good weapon when you don't want to face the enemy up front, but so is the chaser when the enemy keeps moving. I found the PacBreaker enemy from Baroness von Bon Bon a lot easier simply due to this gun. The roundabout is a good weapon, yes, but for the beginning, I would definitely recommend the chaser gun.
I disagree with the weapon part of this video. I don't think any weapon in this game is better or worse than another weapon. They all are useful in different situations and your choice of weapon should be the weapon that suits your playstyle the most. The peashooter is all around solid for all situations, but it doesn't overly excel in any specific situations. The spread shot is great for close range and an overly aggressive playstyle, but is useless at long range. The roundabout is great for crowd control and does solid damage, but is very unconventional and takes a lot of getting used to. The chaser is great for crowd control and allows you to completely focus on your dodging, but is very weak in terms of damage. And those are just the starting weapons. There are way more weapons, but I feel like all of them are very balanced and no one weapon makes another obsolete.
Honestly the only good tip here was the smoke bomb, everything else, if you don't know, you shouldn't be playing skilled paltformers and should go back to basics like Mario, which is fun, just not as much skill needed or you're just retarded and have no commen sense
Unbearable to watch how much he struggles at the frog fan. just keep to the end of the wind, wait for the other one to shoot out his ball(or whatever that is) and wait for it to go above you, at that moment you can go the right again and wait for his next attack. Extremely easy to master
The chasers like one of the best weapons to run as a secondary. It comes in handy on so many fights like when bosses spawn adds you can just use homing and focus on dodging and will quickly take them out. Also very good on bosses whose hitbox is their head so you can just fire and not worry about aiming.
A few of the things said have exceptions btw. Like always be firing, on the dragons third stage you want to be careful with your shots because hitting his fireballs can be very dangerous. Also the seeking shot is not just for beginners, actually kind of an ignorant statement, it is great for some fights where you need to focus on dodging and it can hit the boss/ minions for you, an example for me at least was definitely the clowns second stage as it can attack his dogs and him in the air while you focus on dodging the coaster
I actually had a strategy for Cagney. So you need the spread shot and the pea shooter. When you can get close use the spread shot BUT the parryable seed you NEED to parry so that the annoyingly flying flower doesn't mess you up in Cagney's last phase. One thing I recommend is to try to keep atleast 2hp for Cagney's last phase because if you fail once you still have 1hp to beat him. I recommend using the peashooter for the last phase. That was my strategy to beat Cagney Carnation
Since I'm not very good at aiming, the chaser is actually quite useful for me when/if a boss sends out enemies which can be beat in a few hits. I them switch back to the more powerful weapon.
Also! I only got the game recently and I am unable to jump while moving and firing, is this normal?
The Chaser is my weapon of choice. Shame on me all you want, but I believe it is superior to the other two firing types. My play style is to not focus all of my attention on killing, but more on being careful of the obstacles. This weapon allows me to automatically hit everything all around me, and allows me to focus even more on surviving. My setup also includes the extra HP, but I do use the Smoke Dash for Run & Guns. People definitely underestimate the weapons and charms that take away damage, and I think they should be used more often than the heavy hitters.
