Ummmm. I turned my switch on airplane mode and when i disconnected the controllers they didnt work. Airplane mode disables wireless conections sooooo i dont know how you played switch on an airplane.
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
you should have enabled flight mode ! not only because you where flying but because the switch lasts around one hour longer if it's not searching for wifi the whole time xP
Orlando Marvin (12 days ago)
I love my switch!

I’m going to Las Vegas on a airplane with my Switch!
Bryce Beckman (21 days ago)
You could have also used the black background on the menu to save battery power
darksquirrel409 (1 month ago)
you didnt put it in airplane mode!! xD
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
ExtremeThunder it also enhances the battery life quite a bit
darksquirrel409 (1 month ago)
ExtremeThunder ooh thanks for the tip!
ExtremeThunder (1 month ago)
You can have it in airplane mode and still use the joycons detached. Once airplane mode is activated, more options pop up... one of which lets you turn on the bluetooth in the joycons. Many airlines allow for short range bluetooth devices, so long as it is not during takeoff and landing.

How did you get internet? I cant use mine
Badger (1 month ago)
ive done this and a power bank is essential
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
Badger or you just enable flight mode xD then its 3 1/2 hours of Zelda. Or play stardew valley - that game runs 7 hours on a single charge

Dude you sound like ghost robots lol
Gaming Giratina (1 month ago)
. The joycons can’t disconnect from the switch during Airplane mode
ExtremeThunder (1 month ago)
Yes they can. Once Airplane mode is activated, more options pop up... one of which turns on the bluetooth for the Joycons.
ThatDudeJCrash (1 month ago)
Must be fun playing it for an hour or two before the battery dies out lol.
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
it lasts at least 2 1/2 hours with wifi enabled. in airplane mode it would be over 3 hours. and ot depends on the game. something like stardew valley runs 5 to 7 hours at once on battery.
Brigadier the Hedgehog (2 months ago)
You can’t use wireless joy cons while in airplane mode
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
Brigadier the Hedgehog yes of course, just go to options and choose that Bluetooth does not deactivate in airplane mode.

*turbulence switch falls on floor abd disappears for ever*
har12rocks (2 months ago)
On airplane mode the wireless mode doesn't work for the controller
ExtremeThunder (1 month ago)
If you pay attention to the screen when turning on airplane mode, more options pop up... one of which lets your turn on the bluetooth in the controllers.
Tavyn May (2 months ago)
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
Tavyn May You can detach them in airplane mode - there is an option for it. The difference is that he has everything turned on, wi-fi, nfc etc. the joycons only need Bluetooth
Tavyn May (11 days ago)
Hermy :3 But he's supposed to have the console in airplane mode, and if you do have it in airplane you can't detach the joycons
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
Tavyn May first of all, you can, it's deactivated by default but you can enable Bluetooth through the options menu. but in the video he has wifi turned on so he isn't in airplane mode. that's also why the battery drained so quickly. in airplane mode you get almost one hour extra

DaNk WaLrUs (2 months ago)
If you play on a plane you gotta put airplane mode on and that means you can’t use joy cons disconnected which really sucks
ExtremeThunder (1 month ago)
Once airplane mode is activated, more options immediately pop up... one of which lets you turn on the bluetooth in the controllers. Many airlines allow short range bluetooth devices so long as they are not on during takeoff and landing.

I took my switch out a few times but a lot of times I feel paranoid that someone going to try to steal it or I am going to lose it. Switch to valuable to me.

Travel tip: If bringing a switch on a long plane ride, make sure you buy a usb charging cable for it and also a portable charger.
Hermy :3 (11 days ago)
TheGamingGecko and to enable airplane mode xD unlike in this video
Amaxilty (3 months ago)

Truly amazing system. Soon to travel so I'll be playing on a plane. But right now I play in bed, bathroom, in my car, bus/train rides. So awesome being able to play console games on the go.
Chill T (3 months ago)
When playing in Flight Mode, you can't use wireless controllers.
Daisy Rose (3 months ago)
the thing is if hes using aeroplane mode then this is fake cause airoplane mode disables bluetooth and connections while they are what the joycons use hmmmmm

looks cool. but zelda is a game i need to concentrate on. At least through the first playthrough. So on the plane I'd play Mario Kart not Zelda.

I love my switch...Whenever I travel It's cool to setup on the tray table, hand the person next to me a joy con and fight each other on brawlout or play some other games. Who knew you could make business contacts with a nintendo as the ice breaker haha.

I have the PS4 Pro and the Xbone X. After being sceptical about everything Switch since I first heard about it, I finally buckled under my kids pressure of getting one, and since the day it has arrived three weeks ago, I completely neglected both “superpowerd” consoles, and with non stop kid - like wonder and enjoyment have been playing non stop on the Switch, not just Zelda, Super Mario etc, but all the wonderful indi titles that keep on coming. My poor kids keep begging me to let them have a go. Bad dad!

You can't use the joycon seperated on a flight though. If you turn airplane mode on you can only play in handheld

"excuse me sir, your game is disrupting the plane signals and we're landing into the water". "Oh I'm sorry I'll put it away".

One bad thing about the Switch on an airplane... I was just casually shaking my joy-cons on the plane all excited of course with glee using motion controls playing super mario odyssey just you know, throwing my cap (Cappy) around (who wouldn't get excited playing Odyssey on a plane in 720p c'mon?) and the people in the row next to me thought I was jacking off lol (I don't play Mario Odyssey unless I got motion controls, sorry not sorry, I know, I have certain stubborn habits), shouldn't have held the joy cons so close to my nuts, but then again, I had and they were looking at me funny... I got embaressed and switched to hand held, and then just eventually put the switch away... no choice on a cramped up spirit airlines. Not much room with the tray table almost touching my stomach, and I had to hold the Joy-Cons really low and close together not to hit the people next to me. Kinda difficult on Spirit... "Spirit Airlines, cheap, but you'll feel like you are smashed into a dog cage!"

The girl he sat next to is really pretty
In airplane mode bluetooth doesn't work. That means you can't use any wireless controllers, so the joycons must be connected to the console.

Daniel Harris (5 months ago)
Used mine on a 2 hour train journey recently - I get a bit sick sometimes if I try and use a laptop or other screen (or even read a book sometimes) when travelling and it wasn't too bad with the Switch - I played it on and off in between chatting to my wife

Hey, the joy con that was on the left side was the normal neon blue, but now at 3:05 it is normally blue???? New joycons confirmed

Optimistica1 (5 months ago)
Was it affecting the plane in any sort of way, or was your flight completely safe? I'm still skeptical about the hybrid's system with the joycons.
Diy Chris (5 months ago)
This makes me question, you couldn't be flying with tabletop mode, the controlers are wireless, You have to play handheld in a flight. 👀🤔

Thanks for the video! Been trying to figure out if its comfortable on a plane or lots of elbow and shoulder bumping. Like the idea of using the controller down below though, that would solve the worries!
