With the announcement of Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee, it's becoming more apparent the direction Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are taking with the series. They want to appease the Generation 1 crowd, and give the Pokémon Go users a reason to want a Nintendo Switch. The Pokémon franchise is already so big, this latest move can only lead to astronomical numbers.

If GO came out this year, with all it's current features, then the strategy of using Let's Go to drag in a bunch of old fans would throw switch sales up the roof, and make the fanbase implode with people not knowing the difference between a pokemon and digimon because 6 OTHER GENERATIONS CAME OUT IN THE PAST 20 YEARS BRUH.
Also Let's go would probably be sold out.
I'm buying a switch. But I will never upgrade my phone. Too many distractions in my life already. So fuck Pokemon Go! And fuck these games they're bringing out where you have to use Pokemon Go with it!
What would've happened if in an alternate timeline, the Pokemon franchise have been around since Feb. 27, 1986, if "Red & Green Versions(1996)" first came out 10 years earlier worldwide as launched titles for the original Game Boy(Apr. 21, 1989, if it came out 3 years earlier)? And if the GameBoy was horizontal, had a gender-neutral name(and aimed towards both genders), was as advanced as the NES, had fewer limitations, a backlight, full-colored screen, if the screen was wider, and uses rechargeable batteries?
I think you are really hitting some good points.
I plan on getting a Switch next month and the fact that they are releasing Let’s Go got me to open up Pokemon Go again. I was surprised to see people are actually still playing in my area.
I really don't know about this one. It could in fact be the perfect storm, as you say, but I think it could also easily flop. A lot of pokemon go players aren't invested enough in video games to put money into a switch. On the other hand, many main series fans are complaining about all the new changes that were made to make the game similar to go, and I imagine many won't pick this one up because of that. Personally, my prediction is that it will do well in sales simply thanks to nostalgia, but only time will tell.
6:41 those "hardcore fans" thinking this are fucking idiots. a new gen of pokemon main title games come out every 3 years, at least. i don't how the hell they thought 8th gen would be coming after barely two years in 2018. 2019 obviously this will happen even before it was announced via PKMN twitter to quell the rage of those fools.
1996 - red/green/blue (1st gen)
1999 - gold/silver (2nd gen)
2002 - ruby/sapphire (3rd gen)
2006 - diamond/pearl (4th gen)
2010 - black/white (5th gen)
2013 - X&Y (6th gen)
2016 - sun/moon (7th gen)
I won't be getting PKMN Let's Go simply because its another kanto remake but for Yellow Version this time. We've already visited Kanto in four generations with it being remade three times, I'm beyond sick of it by now after two decades with franchise. if you'd wonder four times, when did that happen? well...
red/blue/green/yellow 1st time
gold/silver/crystal 2nd time (first kanto remake)
firered/leafgreen 3rd time (second kanto remake)
heartgold/soulsilver 4th time (third kanto remake)
let's go pikachu/eevee will be the 5th time (fourth kanto remake)
I'm all kanto'd out so yeah, hard pass on Let's Go switch games, but have fun genwunners and those getting back into the franchise
“The Pokemon fans complaining about Let’s Go are going to get the game anyway. Who are you kidding?” This made me chuckle so hard. I’m complaining about how easy Let’s Go is but know that I will get it anyway when it comes out. Nostalgia is a heavy hitter
Due to chronic illness I missed the big Pokemon Go phase. Later when my illness went into remission, I started playing Pokemon Go. After spending 4+ years stuck in the house, this game was exactly what I needed. It got me outside again and I met new people. I have found more parks in may are in the past year than the entire time I lived here prior. The game is for sure not dead. I have a group of 40+ people that I see regularly, some of them I see daily for raids. Pokemon Go is alive and well I can assure you. I already own a Switch, I can tell you that many people in my raid group will be buying a Switch and both Pokemon Let's Go games. I also have some friends that haven't played Pokemon Go since launch who are now going back to Pokemon Go to try and catch some good Gen 1 Pokemon for Let's Go. This shit is working out exactly like Nintendo and associates have planned.
Just like you mentioned: I'm a hardcore player that's slightly bummed about the roster, but who am i kidding, I'm going to play it anyway.
But seriously, at the very least allow the Pokemon that come from Gen I that evolve in other games to evolve! Why would you let Golbat stay a Golbat and not achieve it's full potential?
Genwunner is a derogatory term because they prefer nostalgia over thinking about new things. Generation 1 and the remakes are so janky but ya'll still prefer to play those.
again: I'm buying these games, but there's something off when one of the mascots can evolve into one of eight pokemon but you can only get the original 3. You're missing out on over half its potential!
A few days ago, I saw a woman in her 50s playing Pokémon Go on the bus. That's in the South Wapes Valleys too, which is really quite surprising. I started playing again about a week before the Let's Go announcement, and I've been enjoying it all over again.
I really hope that in future GameFreak will release Main-Pokemon-Games not every year - it's too damn often! >.<
Maybe the Let's Go series will become a serie and we have all 2 years Let's Go and in the other years main pokemon games? that would be fine I think
I was 6 when i started playing Pokemon in 1999 and for that reason Gen 1 is and will always be the very best and keep a special place in my heart that will never die, and for this reason im super excited for Pokemon Lets Go
I actually started playing Pokemon Go again recently (stoped because I found entire Gen 1).
Weather is perfect for it and it have happened a ton of new stuff and pokemons in the game which made me really glad.
How much people that download Pokemon GO for free are willing to spend 299 dollars on a Switch then 60 dollars on a console game that AT BEST expands the experience of Pokemon GO?
Pokemon Company has been trying to make nostalgic people buy their games again since Pokemon XY and that never worked.
Do you mind if I use the information from this video,
To make one for my audience? (Brazil)
Of course I'll give all the credits in the video, description and pinned comment.
Its just that the research you made is good and I thought it was interesting. I'd like to bring that to my peeps this time, if you are ok with it.
I'm subscribed for almost a year now I think. I always watch your vids, keep it up the great work! :D
I literally feel the same way as you about the topic and what pokemon timeframe you were most interested with and damn your right i thought star wars would have been more popular and made more $ with the Franchise starting way before Poke'Mon. Great Video Wulff Den and 9:00-9:15 had me Lls.Later Bro
I'm suuuuper excited for pokemon let's go that i aso went back to play pokemon go hahaha, i really can't wait for the game to be out! As someone who is an on/off poke trainer, let's go is really a nice way to sort of recap on the game for me so that i can play next yr's new game. XD and also really just excited to play lapras in 3D wwwww
Honestly the only reason I wanted a switch was for Pokemon. I found a lot to love while waiting for it. I am a Gen 1er but got into go fell out but got back in thus year. I was playing moon but the 3ds felt cheap to me and like the next day 600 fell into my lap and bam got a switch never looked back. Can't wait for let's go to come out and Pokemon quest is killer.
After Sun and Moon (Which I liked at 1st, but now I realize alot of stuff I didn't like) I finally, finally fell off of Pokémon.
These are games I was ADDICTED, literally addicted to since I was 7, I didn't start with Gen 1, I started with Gen 3, with good old Sapphire and I didn't need the "Pokemania" of the 90's to completely fall in love with the franchise.
As a matter of fact, I didn't really even know much at all about Pokémon before 2004, so I never had the _nostalgia goggles_ many Gen 1 and 2 fans have, I absolutely loved 4th gen, I loved 5th Gen, I sorta liked 6th gen and 7th was "eh" after a while for me. So while I don't think I like Pokémon enough anymore to get a Switch, I'll definitely enjoy watching people play it.
P.s - I was born the year Pokémon came to the US, and I grew up in Barbados, so there was no why I could've experienced Pokemania anyway lol.
I am a lvl 28 with 142/151 Pokemon in the Kanto region in my Pokedex, wow is this going to pay off on November 16th! I've been playing this game for almost two straight years now and my Pokedex is only getting better and better! I encourage everyone to get their friends addicted, I have already done this to five different people.
Pokemon Go was a fad, that 60 million install base? those are probably just hardcore fans of the main franchise. that 73% are just the type of people who do stuff because its popular. just like the sudden arrival of "new fans" from say movies like the Avengers. They don't give a fuck about anything, till popular people do.
Are we sure that you can transfer Pokémon go Pokémon into let’s go? That seems incredibly broken. I noticed in the trailer it said that the Pokémon were being sent to the “Pokémon go park”, which (to me) sounds more like a closed off environment where you can see your Pokémon from Pokémon go
Favorite game franchise of all time. Loved it ever since i got my yellow GameBoy color and Pokemon Red. Not very many games can be enjoyed from childhood to adulthood but this is definitely one of them for me.
What would've happened if the first Pokemon games, "Pocket Monsters: Red & Green Versions", first came out 10 years earlier(instead of 1996) on Feb. 27, 1986, both in Japan and worldwide as launched titles for the original Game Boy(if it came out 3 years earlier instead of Apr. 21, 1989)? Also if the Game Boy from 1986 was advanced like the Famicom/NES that it had a backlight full-colored screen with a higher resolution and it uses rechargeable batteries that lasts for over 48 hours? If Red & Green had many features like 256 Pokemon, animated battle sprites(both front and back), the female player character, genders, gender differences, gender split evolution(like for the Nidorans), breeding, egg-mechanics, baby pre-evolutions, more Bug, Ghost, Dragon Type Pokemon and stronger Moves? What would've happened if Pokemon existed in the mid-1980s? How would that have changed the franchise(videogames, Manga, Anime, TCG, etc.) How would that have changed the people who were born in the 1970s and early 1980s(who never grew up playing Pokemon)? What would the games have looked like back then? What would Sugimori Ken's 1980s artstyles have looked like if Pokemon came out in 1986?
I started playing pokemon after red was out for a bit. My partner and I were at a thrift store and found a copy of red for $7 which was a steal in 1999. Neither of us had gameboys so I brought my SNES and Super Gameboy to our house to play the cart. It wasn't until we beat Brock that we realized why the game was given away to Goodwill... The save file was corrupted and would not save our game. We of course did what any good gamer would have done: We left that SNES on for the two weeks it took us to beat the elite four and complete the game. No saving.. It took us another week to say goodby to the file when we powered down the system in a short but somber farewell ritual. We eventually game boy-ed up and got into all the accessories when gold/silver came out. But I will never forget how awesome pokemon felt during that first experience.
