Other games I'd mention, for PC, are titles like: - Ultima series (specifically Ultima IV through Ultima VII part 2) - Ultima Underworld (the first one, though the second is pretty good too) - Populous II - Pirates! (probably go with the remake called Pirates! Gold) - Quest for Glory series - Syndicate (from 1993) - Fallout 1 and 2 - I liked the two Manhunter games, by Sierra, but the games have a bit of a mixed reaction - Eye of the Beholder II - Wing Commander I, IV, and possibly II - Wing Commander: Privateer (I didn't really like the second one, so make sure you get the original) - Tie Fighter Collector's CD-ROM - Loom (though probably just about any game from LucasArts would be good) - Carmageddon (if you're into those types of games) - Doom and Doom 2 - Dark Sun: Shattered Lands - Crusader: No Remorse - Crusader: No Regret I'm not sure what else I'd add to this list.

For Bioware BG2 was the pinnacle. Their slide into irrelevance is now gathering pace quickly.

As soon as I seen a clip of Quake 1, I knew this list would be good. I got allllll the way to the last boss on Baldur's Gate 2 and my hard drive made a weird grinding noise and failed...while I was fighting the last boss...sigh. Never made it that far again.

I got Oddworld Abys oddysee for free in Steam, it was an event and i gotta say, it was 2017 and i felt it was pretty amazin compared to the bullshit we get nowadays from AAA games, pure gold game design there and it has humor with great story :) Worth

There are THOUSANDS of grat PC games from the 90's. No one can ever mention them all! I have over 2000 mostly 90's PC games, as I don't rate the vast majority of AAA games released since about 2010 But one correction: Planescape: Torment IS party based.
Love Life (9 months ago)

System shock 2 is nearly identical to Thief. Was it made by same company around same time ? I mean everything look same. Character movement, weapons animations etc.
Eli Malinsky (6 months ago)
Tony Nameless It was made by the same company, Looking Glass Studios and co-developed with Irrational Games, and was running on the same engine as Thief and Thief II, the Dark Engine. As a matter of fact, because the Dark Engine was basically a proprietary engine for Thief, System Shock 2 was more of a total conversion of Thief than a game built from the ground up, because the engine was initially made specifically for Thief and nothing else.

Thought I was the only one, the death animations and so forth.. Looked quite a lot like the guards on Thief.
