Is Nintendo Labo just for kids? After a weekend full of Labo building and playing, I can assure you that for the most part it's not... FOR THE MOST PART.

"Get outta here." *slaps God of War out of frame* Nice.
I basically forgot all about God of War when I picked up my Labo Variety kit. Not that I don't want to play it, but Labo piqued my curiosity in a way that God of War did not. I knew pretty much exactly what to expect with GOW, but as I purchased my Labo kit, I was like, "I have my suspicions that I'm going to regret buying this, but I have to try this out." As someone into designing stuff from paper (papercraft) and programming, I felt obligated to see how well Labo worked. And from a design perspective, and the way the Joy-Con interact with the cardboard, I was amazed. It's brilliant. That said, they didn't go far enough with the software. It's far too limited across the board. If Nintendo were smart, they'd release bigger games that use the Toy-Cons, like a rhythm game for the piano, or Pro Bass Fishing for the fishing rod. The motorbike software is the most game-like thing on offer, but it has no multi-player. But if they added online (or local wireless) multi-player with the ability to race on tracks you or your friends had made, that would significantly extend the replay value of the motorbike game.
Unfortunately, whenever Nintendo tries to wow you with the novelty of the interface, they tend not to put much substance into the software.
That said, if the Labo Garage had a bit more depth to it, all would be forgiven. I just want to make a cardboard trumpet, but the interface doesn't seem to allow for it.
7 1/2 to 12 hours is the average playtime of a 60$? Wtf I make sure to play it for a least 60 hours to justify the price. I have 185 hours of Botw accumulated on my switch and I haven't even bought the dlc yet. Dude
Way more interested than I was...like everyone else, thought it was a lot for some cardboard. I really like the different functionality that they were able to include in clever ways. The piano is awesome I think...liked what you did with it. If I was a kid, yeah I'd think it was pretty damn rad, but hell as an adult I still think its pretty damn rad lol
I think I lost it like 3 times throughout the video lol
I'm probably not getting Labo so soon since I'm probably not getting a Switch so soon (which is definitely not a choice, I tell you), but this thing has surely sparked my interest. What an incredible review and an incredible performance, too.
still painful to see God of War thrown away like that though
You sold me, Bob. I was so on the fence about this until your review. Thanks for doing what you do. As many others have said, your Switch content is fantastic. Your videos mean a lot to me, and I'm glad I found your channel when I did!
Ok so the IR scanner thing makes me excited for a gimmick for metroid, because if you remember the way the blaster switched between modes was samus making different gestures with her hand, now I don't know how accurate or sensitive the scanner is so it might not work out but I think that sounds kinda fun to wave your hand in front of the sensor and swaps lasers in hand held mode.
If my misses came home and I was playing one of these i think she'd leave me. 70 pounds for cardboard wow!!! What is wrong with you she'd say. And she would totally be correct. Not for me, not aimed at me but it's nice to know I have a friend on the Internet for me to do these things so I don't have to. Thanks. Appreciate it. 😏
