How. Just, so much money you have. How. HOW. I literally fluctuate between 500 and 1200, after getting the backpack I just can't get good money any more. Plus my grass is gone now.

Love the game but the fishing mechanic sucks!
David R. (3 months ago)
its not a bad mechanic its just more difficult than other games (which is nice. no bland fishing with no challenge

Strawberries bought at the Egg Festival is the most profitable in spring :)

Don't always cut the grass for hay The animals also eat grass which is cheap and easy and it save time

This may sound like a weird question but is that the same Aoife who used to do the Homework podcast? I recognise the voice and Aoife is not a name you come across often.

Zilkz (1 year ago)
Do not cut the grass u need a silo and a coop to get chickens then mayo machine and sell mayo for profit
Bryce Gallie (1 year ago)
Just so you know potatoes are the most profitable plants for the first spring

One thing you forgot is to make sure to check the cooking channel every sunday.

Why would you wait until winter to upgrade you watering can? Just pick a day before it rains.
Hauro Kyo (5 months ago)
It will take two days. So when the TV tells you it will rain tomorrow, you should water your plants today and then upgrade the watering can.
Rick Emote (7 months ago)
Oh yeah... never use the TV, I always forget it exists. I guess you could do that, but it may take longer than a day.

We're not all psychic. How are we supposed to know when it will rain?

Only thing that you need to change in your tips is the part about cutting the grass and getting a silo- the second, smaller door on your coop is to let your chickens out during the day so they can eat the grass! Eating the grass actually leads to happier chickens, and doesn't have any cost whatsoever :) I definitely recommend getting a silo by late summer to early fall though- once it's built, simply cut the excess grass that your chicken coop isn't near and store it up as hay for winter, when the grass is gone and the chickens will be grateful for hay.

I feel extremely behind- I only have 2000 G, I don't even have a silo or the backpack upgrade yet and it's already Spring 14. Is there anything I can do to catch up, or at least boost my productivity?
Gren Moyo (1 year ago)
Wisshee i started this game without any idea what i was doing, if you just follow the tips anew you should be okay. the game has so much to it that you can focus on what you want, though i would get the backpack ASAP. as she stated at the end of the video, its what you make of it. take your time. Rushing the game will just stress you out and take the fun out of it.

Parsnips are the best crop for the 1st spring, when starting capital is the tightest constraint. You harvest very rapidly, quickly netting you money to buy an even bigger seed batch quickly. Cauliflower ties up your capital for way too long, and is better the next spring when farm area and watering are the tightest constraints.
Ryan N (2 years ago)
Yeah, Parsnips multiply your investment by 1.75 every 4 days vs 1.6x every 6 days for Potatoes. You can only realistically water so many tiles each day in your first spring, so you should start planting potatoes/cauliflower when you start approaching that limit, as they give higher profit *per tile*.
RiseofDoom 0 (2 years ago)
Ryan N I always thought potatoes were good for the first spring. But the 4 days for parsnip does seem pretty good.

i am going to find where is the Mine that runs from me
vhirvela (2 years ago)
I would say what ever you do do not upgrade the watering can that can be quite taxing to your early game resourses. If you spent any time basically at all in the mines you will be able to afford watering systems and by the first winter I don't think I will be ever watering anything except cats drinking bowl on the days that I want to heavily roleplay this stuff! (I don't think feeding your cat has any gameplay benefits)

Quick correction: Animals don't actually need hay "every day". If you let them out, they'll eat grass instead (except on rainy days). You'll notice in the video that her fenced area doesn't have any grass inside, so the chicken won't find anything to eat there.
Shad8x (2 years ago)
Very good tips for starting players. I knewed them all, but they are all very important to know before playing. Great video, well made. Keep it up. Maybe do 2nd video with more advanced stuff ?
