The arrival at Sekllige was something special for me, everything was so perfect. This track is still my favorite from TW3 but for Critical Role viewers, after Molly's terrible end, this song resonates through my soul

You know the game was fucking great when soundtracks like this bring tears to your eyes.

Sometimes plays when you're exploring some areas on the map. Reminds you again what type of universe it is where the story takes place; Dark, sad, beautiful, complex, unpredictable etc.

This one, along with the two Ard Skellig themes (fields+village) and “Whispers of Oxenfurt” simply put, is music master class. It can be said about the entire soundtrack really, but these are the pieces which enchanted me at key points, leaving a lasting impression during and after gameplay. The magic started in White Orchard abandoned village and went all the way from Oxenfurt to the Skellige isles, concluding in the tower at the end. The Witcher 3 is an example which proves that video games, in this case, easily can be considered art, thanks in part due the music which fits so well with the visual side and ties everything together, creating a deep and engrossing gaming experience.

So beautiful, yet so sad. This is basically pure depression in music form, and it makes sense that it's only used for some of the most heartbreaking quests in the game. Like the Devil By The Well quest. At first you think you're going to kill this evil wraith that haunts a well. And then you find out that it was an innocent woman who died right before her wedding day. Listening to this song and watching Geralt pull her body out of that well, that really hit hard.

I finished the game today. There just isn't a game out there that has given me this kind of satisfaction. I thank the devs, from the bottom of my heart.

Whenever this song plays, a specific, melancholic scenario comes to my mind: sky is cloudy and a bit dark, a setting sun hits Geralt's back as he rides Roach in a slowly pace through a forest path and the wind blows the leaves on the trees. And this just gives me peace and feels

The Witcher 3 is not a simple video game, its a masterpiece. All is perfect, graphics, story, gameplay, ost. When you finish this game everybody cry because this is game is beautifull. Thank you CD Projekt ! I hope The Witcher 4 but its impossible :3

Rest in peace, all who paid the ultimate price for humanity's advancement. The greatest sacrifice is truly one's own, for it requires the upmost selflessness and sacrifice. It is because of our forefathers and our ancestors that we could enjoy life as it is today. Let us hope and pray that we meet them again, someday - in paradise. Also, props to the person(s) in CDPR that composed this masterpiece.

The level of storytelling this game achieved...almost unsurpassable in my estimation.

Am I the only one this track reminds of some musics we had in Arcanum?
Matt (1 year ago)
Best use of this track was the mission looking for the missing brother. Seeing all the corpses from both sides searching. That is when it really hit.
Roach (1 year ago)
This song was beautifully placed in the devil by the well contract. It really hits you hard when you're examining the tragic massacre that happened by the well. The music is so melancholic and thought provoking, it makes you feel nothing but sorrow and pity for the the villagers and the lady who was to be wed that died there. Amazingly written
The Dishonoured Wolf (1 year ago)
The best use of this track was when Geralt tries to keep Ciri from entering the tower at the end of the game.

Joseph Sosa (7 months ago)
Well, there are three endings- the negative one where Ciri dies (this is the one where you were extremely overprotective of her and basically not letting her be her own person), the one where she lives and becomes a Witcher (the Good Ending), and the one where she lives and becomes Empress of Nilfgaard (the Bittersweet one, which is my favorite)
spymen 2 (11 months ago)
Yas! Mostly because for me in my 1st run I got bad ending and thought this was the only one, I was playing the final part again and again trying to find something to say to convince her not to go, knowing that afterwards this would be her end... But without success and this haunting song kept soothing showing Ciri's inevitable destiny. That destroyed me :(

I didn't even know the character of Bran as this game was my first experience with the witcher series, however this music really made me care about the funeral.

i wonder that this theme plays at Vesemir's funeral becaue this funeral is for me more climatic than king bran's becaue we all know how Vesemir died and how he was important for all Witchers from Kaer Morhen
Mike Smith (2 years ago)
Didn't this play in the Devil at the Well witcher contract?

Knight Raiden (2 years ago)
Man when this played at King Bran's funeral at Skellige, the game just felt more alive to me. They truly put their heart and soul into this game.
Knight Raiden (1 year ago)
Yeah man it just felt so real, like I was there. And the interaction between Geralt and Yennifer was great. Just that whole scene was amazing
boot skatt (1 year ago)
100% agree with you. The way you just happened to land on skellige the same time a recently deceased king's funeral takes place, and how the whole scene somehow hits you hard despite never meeting this person. I feel like the dev's took great consideration for people who hadn't read the books or played the previous games.

This song kind of reminds me not the game itself.. but moments from my own past. Moments that I experienced back in those days. Specially moments related to the night time.. Not sad moments, but peaceful ones..
Rest in Peace Brandon the Builder.

I'm not normally one to tear up over a game, but the combination of Bran's funeral, Geralt and Yen reunited, and THIS MUSIC gets me every time.

When Geralt went to the battlefield to help that man find his brother and this music started playing as the view of scattered corpses became the centerpiece of attention all I could think was "what a pointless waste of life" Strange how a videogame can give you perspective.

Depends. The native americans clearly werent evil but they had their land taken. War maybe not pointless but it is definitely unreasonable. Old men declare war while the youth must die for it.+Tyr Solvein

zarazoostra (11 months ago)
Try, exactly. War isn't pointless, not for us, unless you're okay with good people always being martyrs, and giving power to literally anyone who will take it. Open a history book and take a hard look at the reality we face--humans do good and bad things, and lust for power, which is essentially control over your environment. Thousands of years of history reflects this, that is hard evidence, and you should never delude yourself into thinking pacifist philosophy will ever prevail over everyone. Desiring power is a base survival instinct. That's what you're up against: instinct. Something hard wired into our heads. You won't beat that. Violence is something we have to deal with... the question is, will you lie down and become a martyr, letting tyranny rule over those who survive, or will you put the mad dogs down when they need you?
matthiasfsa (1 year ago)
It made me want to give them proper burial rights, at the very least. May they rest in peace.

+GenericYoutubeNameHD Now that I've finished those two expansions, what will become of my life?! 😭😭 I've never experienced something of this caliber before. I've never felt so empty on the inside after finishing a game. That moment when Geralt looks at the screen(Blood and Wine expansion) and says that the journey has come to an end is the single most heartbreaking thing I've experienced..

This song was used at the most perfect moments... Spoiler alert...When Geralt is trying to convince Ciri that she doesn't need to sacrifice herself to destroy the frost and you can see the pain in Geralt's eyes, but at the same the pride he feels.

Best track of Witcher 3. Kinda reminds me of Arcanum music
TheSatanTV (2 years ago)
Arcanum was magic. One of the best games I've played.
Kubeface (2 years ago)
That's actually what brought me here. I heard this in a Witcher 3 video and thought they were using Arcanum music. That game was a buggy, broken mess with terrible combat, yet somehow I get goosebumps now just thinking about it. Special, unique game.

Hearing this music while reading a letter i found on a soldiers corpse... His face down in the mud, In a pool of his own blood, His body burned to a crisp.... Really fucking depressing.
franz foodan (3 years ago)
This music, coupled with the brother's remains search on the battlefield. I was only an hour in and I almost broke down at how touching this side quest was, the way the music is not entirely sad or entirely uplifting, allows all the human emotions a chance to surface in your thoughts, and you are bombarded with all the possibilities of different emotions. The battlefield is a site of two conflicting sides, the emotions of victory and defeat are simple when written, but this track perfectly represents all the other emotions and collateral effects. What led to the war, all the death etc. It almost represents a brainstorm of ideas and outcomes in a piece of music. Super talented production. Thanks CD Project, Marcin Przybylowicz.

Best song on W3 IMO:)  So beautiful.
Prince Razeel (3 years ago)
i noticed this soundtrack on the quest Devil by the well, after the first encounter with the noon wraith, it was raining heavily and i went into the abandoned village, it just felt really sad, the village was sad, the noon wraith was sad, everything felt so haunting.. i felt like i was in game, this level of immersion is incredible, great soundtrack

So sad ;-;
LB - Buddlich (3 years ago)
This is the best track of the witcher III. It fits perfectly in so many moments. There is this kind of sadness but also a glimpse of hope, that makes me stop the game, rewind the whole story and listen to this great music! This music, playing in the background, creates such an enormous increase of empathy with the characters and events in the game.... Goose bumps!
Tobias Dübeck (2 years ago)
Amen to that man!
Preezy 85 (3 years ago)
Like a few of you I first heard this playing when see the battlefield at White Orchard. You don't know who won or lost, just that everyone died in the mud for no apparent reason other than because their Lord commanded them to fight. Very moving piece of music and really does capture the futility of war, particularly the brutal hand-to-hand combat of the medieval era.
Stefan Stolic (2 years ago)
isnt it obvious? Temeria lost to Nilfgaard which can at the end of the game, depending on your choices throughout the game, spoilers, restore Temeria as a whole.
Nass O. (3 years ago)
Like hisaishi work. Emotional and so deep piece
Jack Vogel (3 years ago)
This one is something special. I noticed it first on the quest when youre about to help someone find his brothers remains on the bloodstained battlefield in the area. I dont know, all the small things mentioned about the war conflict from the start of the game, corpses hanging in trees along the roads and crying children in the dirt outside their burnt down houses as you travel, up to the point where you hear this music playing in the background while turning the still smoking bodies on the field in search of someones loved one, it actually made me care. So often AAA games want to introduce their "epic" storylines to us, but so very few succeed in even making any sense. Witcher 3 is a great game, with great music
Mr Niz (2 years ago)
+MafiaPlaya1 That's why I am excited to play Horizon: Zero Dawn. I will keep my expectations low, but Guerrilla Games got Developers from CD Projekt Red to help them develop the game's open world. They also got the storywriter for Fallout: New Vegas to write the story. It's going to be awesome.
TheLoneWanderer (3 years ago)
Mafia 2, also an amazing example
TheLoneWanderer (3 years ago)
This is exactly why I praise Bethesda tbh. Their Fallout game series can capture the scenes so well, yet Witcher does it sooo well. Well done CD Projekt, very talented.

+Anthropognosia Its kinda easy to write good comments surrounding all the great content in this game, but thank you :-) Over a month have passed since I purchased the game, but Im nowhere near the ending. I get caught up with so much side activities, can spend a whole game session just exploring and taking in the scenery!

My favourite soundtrack in the game so far. One of my favourite soundtracks from any game to be honest.
Pro Nosidda (3 years ago)
Aside from the opening title menu music, this is probably my favorite track in the game so far. It first played during the quest Devil By the Well, the quest where you hunt the noonwraith at the beginning of the game, and it fits so well with the setting. It's somewhat relaxing, yet also haunting. It makes the small abandoned town feel haunted, even when the noonwraith isn't there, the music just helps the feeling of knowing it is there, just waiting to appear at mid-day, and it actually made me feel anxious to ensure I figured out what was binding the spirit before noon.
oofioli stramboli (1 year ago)
The story of her death is sad, this song with the devils well and the missing brother made it very sad. At times make you wonder, our world is more cruel than this game.
Justforvisit (2 years ago)
+Pro Nosidda So true, for me it was more of a sad and melancholic feeling though, after getting the story what has happend to her piece by piece together I felt like it was my duty to finally release her from her fate, I really pittied her and her cruel fate....
+Pro Nosidda Same here, it was during Devil by the Well where this song got stuck with me. It told the tragic love story about that woman who died and turned into the noonwraith. This combined with the light-flooded countryside at dusk, together with this song, created a special atmosphere. When I hear the song, I think about that rather than about King Bran's funeral.
MinecraftPro15 (3 years ago)
+Pro Nosidda What about Spikeroog? I find it fits well to the dawn while you are in Spikeroog woods and gazing on the scenery.
Mike Collingwood (3 years ago)
+Pro Nosidda the music is perfect for that quest... Its so sad what happened, you feel a deep sense of longing when you investigate everything and then finally she is at peace,  brilliant mission and its not even a main quest! Game is awsome
Janred (3 years ago)
That song fits so perfectly in the quest with that ghost at the well... Gave me chills, reminds me of a song in princess mononoke.
Virens132 (5 months ago)
You could almost say that it fits well!
Esther Wyzima (8 months ago)
This quest has something special, that the other quests haven't. There's no ennemy or whatsoever, Geralt just talks with this song in the background, trying to figure out what happened. It is extremely emotional, and also has kind of a "bare" feeling I guess ? This song is one of my favourite though, a shame it doesn't appear more in the game.
