4:05 - I am that person who gets a weird look from friends when they learn I write fanfiction that pairs the awesome and cool protagonist with one of the badass villains.... I swear, I didn't give you THAT look, Rob. Promise.
The "Finishers" Should have also been an entry. As i am one too. I can't stand not finishing a game i've started lol. I'm also a hard moder(sometimes i play it at the second to hard difficulty or normal before i decide to play the game again on the hardest mode) and a Jrpg fanatic.
I can't even ignore side quests on multiple playthroughs. Was helping a buddy level up in Borderlands 2, my level 72 op8 character on a first playthrough, forcing my level 11 friend to wait while I respawn all the bonerfarts cause I accidentally killed them all while trying to fulfill hammerlocks request... And my friend thought it would be quicker if I helped him....lol.
I think I have a little of 5 out of the 7. Im not the one game master and I hate spoiling things... Just yesterday I started tallying the unfinished back log I have. Ive been a semi-serious gamer for since I was 17. 22 years later I discovered that I have a backlog that exceeds a decade. 😓
What about the one (me) who plays a game A LOT after you buy it, you get burned out and stop playing for weeks, months or even years, and then come back and actually finish the game....
specially because I want to play the sequel hahaha
0:25 Thirty seconds in and I already found myself, Yes I start off on hard mode but I mean if I'd go so far as fight Baldur From God of war without any weapon usage just my bare fists, Then I think I have the right to do that. Or the right sentence is "I'd like to make it a bit of a more challenge"
So I play one game way 2 much start off at hard so I dont have to come back for trophies do side quest asap and end up not completing games I like to play something else so 90% of this video is me only thing is the jrpg dont mind them just never really sat down to enjoy one since I started to come around to them
The side quester and the unfinisher is me ... But I'm getting better at it! I haven't gotten any new games and won't until I finish my freaking pile of unfinished games .... Well except kh3 ... And re2 .. BUT THAT'S IT! >_>
1: the Hard Moder... yep! Me through and through.
2: the Side Quester... yep! Another direct hit. An unfinished quest marker is like an unscratched itch.
3: the JRPG Fanatic... never been into them, sorry.
4: the Trophy Hunter... no. I probably would be! But so many games require multiplayer to finish the trophies (achievements... whatever), and I'm an offline player. So I don't care.
5: the Spoiler... okay okay, nicely done. I was gonna say no, but on occasion, you totally got me with that last type. That's easy to do.
6: the Master of One... change it to "few" and yes this counts. So I guess it's a half-yes.
7: the Unfinisher... definitely does happen! Though I always do return to them at some point.
Here are some of my own!
1: the Restarter... oh, but what if I played it this way? Oh, but what if I made that decision? Ah - just restart the whole thing! For the hundredth time.
2: the Side Quester Plus... for when you won't begin something without having all the DLCs installed from the getgo. They aren't all out yet? Eh, I'll wait, then.
3: the Art Dweller... this piece of music or scenic vista is so good, I'm just going to leave it here for a while and soak it in. Saving myself against the clock can wait.
4: the Underdog Weilder... what's this weak thing? Who would ever rely on that? Aww, poor thing. There there, I'll use you. Against all sense and reason!
5: the Themic Matcher... ah, I really want this effect! Or that effect! But it looks so uncoordinated with these other choices. Screw it, fashion over function!
6: the Difficulty Inventor... when the game's challenge isn't enough, add your own. No wall riding. No fast travel. Complete with as few experience points as possible. That kind of thing.
7: the Youtube Scrimper... games these days cost HOW MUCH?!? Eh, okay. Okay, walkthrough videos it is. That'll do. I've "played" it, honest!
Hard moder :P , Side quester, JRPG fanatic, Achievement hunter and unfinisher sadly.
I usually play hard mode because of achievement hunting but if it's not needed I might just play it on normal or easy but sometimes games are too easy that there really isn't any challenge which is why I would increase difficulty.
Guilty as charged for an unfinisher... I played Witcher III for 145 hrs and then jumped off to play Divinity Original Sin 1 and never went back until a yr later. where i proceeded to play for 15 min and bam finished the game.... i was literally 15 min from the final cut-scene, but didn't proceed and finish it before moving on...
You play on hard first thing because there's always a trophy for it, and we don't have time anymore to play through multiple times. Best to just get good the first time, instead of thinking you're amazing, then trying hard mode and spending that same learning time anyway.
I buy Red Dead Redemption 2 and the day after I see Soulcalibur 6 on sale
"alright go on then" I think to myself.
next I know all my friends are on chapter 5 in Red Dead Redemption and I remain on Chapter 2 for lord knows how long.
But I created a character in Soulcalibur 6 so...progress I guess.
Oh Rob, only you understand the life I live. The RPG argument I have had with my father and friends time and time again and the unfinisher... spoke to me on a horribly honest level that I try my hardest to suppress.
i am all of them to some degree. but guess what type I am for alien isolation. all of them depending on how often the alien can be duped by a noise maker... from very well to oh hell no. no nononononono (blood flies across the room) please don't kill me master of death and stealth.
I too am a 3/7 gamer, get about 50-80% through annnnd now I'm more interested in something else
The sad part is it's been a couple of years since I bought a new jrpg and I still have 5 unfinished titles. The only one I generally dont fail to complete is tales of symphonia because its perfect.
wew xP reminds me of a youtuber/streamer I enjoy watching who recently got, I think it was 1 million gamerscore on Xbox. I would still consider myself a trophy hunter, but man that is serious dedication
side quester and unfinisher... yeaaap... that is me...
but but: I am working on the not finishing games bit: I finished 2 games in 2 weeks now.... then again I bought 9 the other week xD
also what about the type who restarts a game every single time again as soon as they don’t feel satisfied with how they were playing? ... *coughs* yeah also me xD
I am a side quester and an unfinisher more often than not. I still haven't finished skyrim, or fallout new vegas, or fallout 4. I tend to get close to the end of the story and then try to do everything else before I beat the game, only to get bored and stop playing.
I have a gamer score of around 45k on xbox one and 720 trophies on the ps4 but only 1 platinum.
