Why are they still coming out with these 'run and hide but don't ever use a weapon' games as if a lot of people prefer them? I mean if these games are rated and meant for older kids and adults it doesn't make much sense. How many teenagers/adult gamers still have a 5 year old's mentality where they feel like running under their bed to hide and hold their breath every time they think they saw the boogey man? If you're old enough to buy these games there's a real good chance you would much rather fight or beat the shhit out of a boogeyman instead of just running and hiding from one.
If you enjoyed the last one I highly recommend you to check out "visage". It looks similar and almost never relies on jumpscares and most of the tension is built up soley by the atmosphere and the limited light.
+Don Knowles not yet. Unfortunately, if you follow their Facebook, you'll see that they are complaining that theres only 2 of them working on it at the time, and that the money ran over, wich, to me, doesn't make sense, since it was a Kickstarter project, but hey, what do i know?
Because it's easier for smaller studios (smaller studios doesnt necessarily mean Indie developers) to release their games on the PC.
If I remember correctly Sony takes a small chunk of the money the game makes in sales which can be like a death sentence if the game doesnt sell well enough.
Because not only would they not make much money for making the game but also almost no money for doing all the work to port their games over to console.
If the game is successful enough it will most likely get a console port.
well, i guess the horror-game genre is dead :(
Every fucking "scary as shit game" is just a 1st person immersive sim with a hide and seek main mechanic. Thanks amnesia, thanks outlast, thanks you tons of slender-like shitgames, just fucking thanks you all!
Do us a favour - just bury the genre already, dont fuck it's dead body.
You might wanna look at visage. There is pretty much no hide and seek mechanic and instead often relies on your thoughts on what might happen when you go around the next corner to freak you out instead of jumpscares.
It also has a pretty interesting mechanic where you slowly lose you sanity if you are in the dark for too long.
