I currently have the Nintendo switch and I do have a lot of fun with it, But I gotta admit, even if I do have the Nintendo switch and the wii u is outdated, God are the exclusives good. They're the reason I still even use the Wii U, because I cant play these games anywhere else! (except on Nintendo switch because they are plugging in some of these games, but still) Btw, disappointed in the no Nintendo land decision
Is the Wii u worth buying at this point with NX coming out next year? Supersmashbros melee still has people buying gamecubes, and wii's, but I'd like some different opinions. So is it worth buying the wii u right now? Advice anyone?
I would say yes, as of today if most of these points vibe with you
1) Nintendo doesn't produce any more Wii U's, so if you change your mind after today, you're going to pay $700+ for a new console because they are sold out and out of production in North America. I'm not sure how much the prices will come down after Christmas. So if you got one for $329 CAD or a little higher, consider yourself lucky.
2) You want to play 4 zelda titles and have no other way to play them, including the latest one Breath of the Wild.
3) You love Nintendo, and want the ability to play lots of their older games in one place
4) Switch does not support 3ds or wii/wii u games, so if you have ANY of those titles from the wii library that you want to play, this is the best way to play them.
5) Some older titles, like metroid trilogy and skyward sword are around $30, which is a great price if you missed out.
6) HD Remakes and games like Skyward Sword no longer require frustrating wii consoles, so you're playing the best versions of these games.
7) You love mario games, as the system plays all of the 3d and 2d games
Basically, if you don't have a way to play Nintendo games, and love Mario/Zelda, then yes, it's worth it.
Personally I would've placed Pikmin 3 above Tropical Freeze; it may be a lot easier than its predecessors, but I just had so much fun playing it that I couldn't possibly fault it.
The only other game I'd say NEEDS to be on this list is Captain Toad!!
Back in the day, Nintendo could make games on par with its competition, if not better games (OOT is the best looking, best playing first Gen title imo) than its competition. Held true through most of the gamecube's life. Then the Wii came out. I was like... 11 maybe, so I was stoked. I loved MP3 and LOZ:TP, among others. But then I actually got a PS3, and the enormous difference in the quality of those games compared to Wii... The Wii had no shooter on par with Uncharted. No open world game with close the depth of games like Skyrim or Farcry. No hack and slash game on par with Ninja Gaiden. Not to mention a lot of the sequels on Wii were criticized for nor being as good as previous entries (TP is just an OOT clone, MP3 is not as good as the debut game cube release) all I'm left with is the fact that I do like Metroid and Zelda so I won't sell my Wii, but those are the only games that kept me from doing so. I look at Wii U, this list of exclusives, look at the games on my PS4 and wonder why even bother when Nintendo is too busy focusing on gimmicks and kiddy games to focus on the full blown adventure games I used to love. The Wii U IS powerful enough to bring a new vision to Nintendo, especially considering that some games were still awesome on the Wii despite looking blurry and muddy as all hell. But what do they do? Make retro styled Mario and Donkey Kong games, re-release Zelda games in HD instead of giving us a new one, forget about Metroid and release a stream of kid oriented games. What was the point of making a new console if you're not going to use it to push your games to the next level? All of Nintendos biggest franchises were basically missing at Launch. And are still missing. No huge sprawling Mario game on par with 64, Sunshine or Galaxy, just spin on super Mario world. Again, no Metroid. No new Zelda. I was going to buy the Wii U once all the exclusives filled in. I waited so long I forgot I was waiting and this list isn't making me buy a Wii U anytime soon. It's a kiddy console, just like the Wii, and nobody who owns a ps3, Xbox 360, PS4 or Xbox One would say the Wii U is better. Unless they love Nintendo games. Generally softer core gamers which is fair enough but you can't say your brand is better because you're satisfied with less. I suppose its all subjective to opinion but looking at the gaming opportunities on PS4 vs Wii U... Not just graphics but games, so many games unavailable on Wii u, meaningless anyways since I have aPS4 but for my tastes just... Make the new Zelda already. And make it better than skyward sword, I hated that game.
Im surprised that the games look so buttery smooth! Im definitely getting a wii U if Nintendo puts out more games. Bayonetta's story was horrible last generation. Graphics and Devilmaycry-like gameplay doesn't save it.
im going wit the ps4 wii u combo got my ps4 last Christmas getting a wii u this Christmas im getting it for Mario and shit like that I have a 360 so I don't need xbox1 besides im glad I got ps4 and jumped off Microsoft for a while my ps4 makes me feel like I felt when I got my ps2 its real good in my opinion
I think I'm going to have to buy the Bayonetta 1+2 bundle... I ordered my Wii U bundled with Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 last Friday, and added Super Smash Bros. to the order. But everyone is saying Bayonetta 2 is so good, so I'm going to have to buy it. To be honest, it does look frickin' awesome. :D
Amazingly enought i have those 10 games(Pikmin 3 being the only one digital) and even more amazing those are my favorite games on the Wii U.Everyone's most anticipated game on 2014 was Smash Bros, well it was't mine, don't get me wrong i love Smash Bros just like anybody else but the thing is that i already knew how it was going to be,my most anticipated and my overall favorite game on the Wii U is Bayonetta 2 hands down.
Nice video, but its too biased and fanboyish. Your opening statement proves that. "More powerful and graphically impressive PS4/Xbone." Those 2 consoles are a lot more than just graphics- you can shareplay on PS4, stream live videos on Twitch, Upload and share pics and clips to Facebook, Youtube, ect., party chat system, game invites, the ability to open other windows when you're already in a game....I can't stand how once you're in a Splatoon or Mario Kart lobby, you cant open your friends list to see who is online. You cant even send game invites. Yeah, the PS4/Xbone is a lot more than just "graphics" when it comes to performance and features over Wii U.
Great list! If anyone can't accept Wind Waker as an exclusive I think Yoshi's Wolly World can replace it. (I'm from EU) And Super Mario Maker could easily replace New Super Mario Bros. U when it gets released.
I use to own a Wii u But I got a Ps4, instead I miss playing smash, MK8, Bayonetta 2, BO2, Nintendo Land, 3D World, sooo much fun but I love playing games that are on ps4 like Rocket League, Minecraft Im 16 btw so don't judge, Pvz Garden Warfare, Arkham Knight I love both consoles and I hope wii u can sell well enough so that Nintendo could stop calling it a failure cuz its not
Plus, thanks to the Virtual Console and Wii compatibility, you can play games like Ocarina of Time, A Link To The Past, Mario World, Mario 1, 2 & 3, Star Fox, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Resident Evil 4, Earthbound, Kirby, Fire Emblem, and many, may others, all in one console.
+Giovanni Minieri what a lie, 2 mario platformer and 1 donkey kong country platformer do not equates to wii u library lol.
Jrpg - xenoblade x
Action/ hack n slash - bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors
Adventure - zelda windwaker hd
Strategy - pikmin 3
Fughting - smash bros
Racing -mario kart
Microgame - game and warii
Shooting - splatoon and upcoming star fox zero
Also party games, mario maker, etc
Totally worth it, I own a ps4 and a wiiu, best combination ever, Nintendo exclusives are masterpieces, and someone said you can play most of the games on 3ds, that's a lie he probably doesn't own neither a 3ds nor a wiiu, because Metal Gear 4 is not the same as 5, then wind waker is not the same as Link between worlds, or MK7 isn't the same as MK8, not even Smash4 when the game is on both systems and still both versions are different
Great list but I think Splatoon in my opinion should be at number 1 ..
due to many valid reasons.. Online play = unlimited gaming experience, top notch innovation, unique, great usage of the gyroscope and the second screen, accessible to the young and the adult, new nintendo IP, frequent updates, among many other reasons
