WW1 all they had to do was release a pigeon. In ww2 you had to make sure your radio man stayed alive and pray that the radio won't get shoot. In Vietnam war , before you even touch the ground you had to worry about if your Helicopter crash. Now we just........have it easy......

When they released the pigeon I didn't know what to expect. It reminded me of the scene from The Abyss when the Captain on the American sub gave the order to release the locator beacon, just one last message before they knew they would die... I heard the voice in my head after, "I don't want to die" and I started crying. It's heart breaking. I cannot imagine knowing, "this is it, I'm gonna die". I love you Lord so much. Without Jesus Christ in my life, I am already dead.

I really wish the pigeon part was twice as long. Hell... three times as long. A truly beautiful moment juxstaposed against the raw carnage and brutality of the First World War.
cuk (1 year ago)
The pigeons played their part in WW1. Such a beautiful and elegant bird.
Anders Mostue (1 year ago)
During both world war 1 and two the pigeons acted as an important messager and to provide suport and communication. The highest medal of honor towards animals is the Dickin medal that 32 pigeons, 31dogs, 3 horses and a cat have recived. One pigeon i paticular got Croix de guerre was Cher Ami that delived a message with "We are along the road paralell to 276.4. Our own artillery is dropping a barrage directly on us. For heavens sake stop it.". Cher Ami delivered the message despite having been shot through the breast, blinded in one eye, covered in blood and with a leg hanging only by a tendon.

The moment the screen goes to black... that should have just been the end of that story...
Tsar (1 year ago)
Wolfskii Nah, that would be better. They just should have added an extra war story.
Wolfskii (1 year ago)
Generik really? Its gonna be way too fuckin short then, just one segment? Hell even Storm of Steel was short and it had 3 segments

My favourite part of this scene is where the plane crashes and it's like, people with all their technology at this time are still worse at flying than a simple pigeon
RAUL REYNA RAMIRE'Z (5 months ago)
i love that part too. but because it shows how humans have all that tecnology but still fight with no reason. i dont have words to say the bauty of this scene
deformed Maui (1 year ago)
Banno Boy 101 maybe the pigeon scared the pilot of the plane so they plane crashed.
Lil Soup (1 year ago)
Conscript626 yeah I guess so :)
Conscript626 (1 year ago)
Banno Boy 101 in humanities defence, pigeons have had millions of years to get good at flying.

Must suck to have you as a pilot online.
John Cusick (2 years ago)
so so many powerful touching moments in the single play campaign! i was sad when it ended. but this game will definitely make those new generations more aware of what WW1 was all about and how horrific it could be. hopefully
Angryboy (3 months ago)
They do, but like I said the focus is primarily on WW2 as it covered more theatres or war and campaigns, as well as having more atrocities and committed and more civilian targets. WW1 was pretty terrible, but WW2 changed the entire world. And regardless of whether we learn about it or not, people still get facts wrong and look to media that should only be taken as fictional entertainment... that's why I'm saying accuracy does matter, because people are stupid enough to take fiction as fact, so you may as well try to make that fiction as accurate as possible.
staryoshi06 (3 months ago)
+Angryboy Are you telling me they don't teach about WW1 wherever you are?
Angryboy (4 months ago)
spooky raidr they didn't make it to "commemorate" the soldiers. They did it because nobody had made a decent 20th century wargame in a long while, and I don't believe anyone has actually made a WW1 FPS before for that matter. The publishers see a market and they push the developers to do it, that's how the games industry works. Also historical accuracy is very important if you're wanting to "remember what happened". Not many people actually learn about the Great War (too much focus on WW2 and Hitler, even then we get that shit wrong all the time) so most people will look to this as their only source of information... what do we get when their only source of information is wrong? Well, a lot of twisted facts that people believe without doubt. I prefer my history to be told the way it happened, not some romanticised story of heroism and villains (no nation wants to point out what they did wrong), no matter how good the latter is for a story.
George Geef (1 year ago)
I'd say it's thematically and tonally accurate, since World War I was basically several nations going killcrazy and throwing millions of people into a meat grinder for essentially no reason.
deformed Maui (1 year ago)
Joshua Willis historically accuracy doesn't matter. the simple fact that they spent the time to make a game commemorating the soldiers is enough.
zigi Ahmed (2 years ago)
funny how one message can change a situation from attack to suicide but still amazing carrier pigeon
Antonis Dimopoulos (2 years ago)
This scene is the most emotional scene in the whole campaign of BF1. It gives a proper respect to those who died in WW1 for no reason at all...

On PS4 just use the right joystick.

Well after watching this video the whole way through, I realised it didn't need that much control. I was trying to fly it like you would an aircraft and it kept sending me out of the map lol

yeah it was VERY glitchy for me too tbh, but once I restarted the checkpoint it navigated fine. Sad that faulty mechanics ruined the moment for me...
