would this be good for home made car touch screen stereo
impokejon (1 year ago)
would this or one of the higher-end who do boards be a good board for a nintindo seitch killer build. also which one do you think will be better you do actually have 6 or lattepanda.
Stephen Cohen (1 year ago)
The acrylic case is clear. There is a blue film on the outside that you didn't peel off!
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
Stephen Cohen yep i know . if i peel it off the thing will be so scratched up in a few days i figured id leave it on for as ling as i can.
VauxhallViva1975 (1 year ago)
Nice video, thanks for uploading. I have one of these UDOO x86 boards, but it is gathering dust since it arrived - I never got around to firing it up - not even ONCE! I think I will have to have a tinker with it this weekend after watching this.....
drewjbx (1 year ago)
Thank you for sharing! Looks promising. Could you test this with SF5 and tekken 7? And some emulation on newer systems...This is small enough to fit in a arcade stick :)

wait...what graphic card it have?

RetroGamerBB2019 (1 year ago)

X86-Development : (1 year ago)
Hi ETAPrime, can you try a full PC GPU with a an external GPU dock (you can get one online for about $50 from websites such as bang-good) you put the GPU on the dock, plug the cable into the m.2 where the WiFi chip goes on the X86 and plug a PSU into the dock and hopefully you can play high end PC games on this Udoo X86 please give it a try it will get lots of views from everyone I know and I'm sure from all of your regular viewers as well
FrankoNero (1 year ago)
I'd like to see that too.
Bylga (1 year ago)
Cool pc =D
Yanou Fishel (1 year ago)
do you think itll run WoW though?
Do R/C! (1 year ago)
Neat but I'm not sure what need this will fill. It's too expensive and overpowered for hobby maker use. It's not powerful enough to be used as a real pc replacement. Once you add all the needed prehiprials you would be better off just buying a cheap pc and a couple raspberry pis.
An R (1 year ago)
While I was working at UDOO one of my colleague was using UDOO X86 Ultra to develop, all day long, for months without any problem whatsoever. Of course you can use it like a computer. In fact you can find these processors in laptop computers already on the market, as ETAPRIME has said in the video. Sure, for $300 you can buy a PC, with a keyboard, a screen and all other fancy things, but it will be weaker than this thing.

any way to hookup a PCi graphics card?
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
can you get any more info on this? i would love to do this

Great video! What would you recommend for emulation of the n64 as well as pc games up to half life 2 and postal, lattepanda or this?

roy alguacil (1 year ago)
Im curious to see, how it´s plays Virtual Pinball ,Hyperspin, on this or in the Ultra, for make a mini pinball machine, with 2 screens :-), they have enough horse power?.
UDOO B. (1 year ago)
The UDOO X86 is able to drive up to three 4K screens at the same time! :)
Unicorn Poo (1 year ago)
Hey, you should get one of those m.2 > pcie adapters and see how it fares with a gpu :)
UDOO B. (1 year ago)
A member of the UDOO community managed to connect their GTX 1080 to the UDOO X86, and they shared a benchmark: http://browser.primatelabs.com/v4/compute/689629

Hello ETA - Yes please! Check how well PS2 and Gamecube Games run on it. If it's possible, I will definitely buy one.
James Hedges (1 year ago)
I'd like to request trying to run Skyrim on it. Have seen it run on some windows tablets pretty well. Thanks as always!
Paul bardsley (1 year ago)
You should count yourself lucky if you have received one of these boards. I tried to order on, I paid for it and got nothing. They even ignored me when I enquired multible times. Only after threatening them with loging fraud claim with bank did they respond. But still no money or board. Lesson learned. All things may not be as they seem with these guys..
An R (1 year ago)
I feel sorry for you bro, but I can ensure that nobody has intentionally forgotten about you at UDOO. It's a small team, and there's a very high demand for this board: that's it. I'm sure your problem will be solved soon.
NickDG (1 year ago)
i do agree with you there, the board and their products are really good, but then it comes to communication it is an issue they need to resolve
Paul bardsley (1 year ago)
Hey Nick, the issue here is communication. If they had communicated with me on the staus then ok. But they did not. Also they need to place an order status bar to inform of how long it will be to supply goods so as to inform potential customers before they place order (communication again). The sad thing about this issue is after I had tested this board to see if it meets my needs my next order would have been for 100 units and ongoing from there.
NickDG (1 year ago)
Hi Paul, i thought the same thing i waited over a year to get my board, sent through email to the company and only got response months later, but it all came down to the demand being to high for the amount boards that were being produced, so the backlog has huge, they had to first produce all the boards for kickstarter, then once those were done they had to deal with all the pre-orders, which is where i was, only now are they starting to deal with normal orders and still struggling to parts supply and production. but i hope you issue is resolved soon swiftly :) goodluck buddy

Definitely looking forward to seeing emulator performance on this setup!
Ryan Amberger (1 year ago)
I can't wait for the day we can do PS2 and GameCube emulation on SBCs. I have no doubt that's not too far off in the future.
Gunma the retro gamer (1 year ago)
Ryan Amberger mini game cube and ps2 mini😂

But when will somebody make a singleboard that supports Win95/98 flawlessly?
Foyva (1 year ago)
I have the x86 UDOO 8gb ultra, arrived about a week ago. It feels so much faster than the 4gb lattepanda.
dark2deeds (1 year ago)
Would love to see this running launch box and future pinball to might put one of these in my bartop
NutStubble (1 year ago)
are you going to try Batocera.linux x86?
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
+NutStubble yes I wil. I'm working on Linux, lakka , android , batocera
Steven Hertz (1 year ago)
I bought one of these boards too. Liking it so far. Please do more videos with emulation on windows 10. thanks!!

Hey @ETA PRIME I am with Team Bliss, a team of developers that has been developing custom Android ROMs for devices over the past few years. We integrate some of the latest android features into stable builds of the latest version of Android (currently 7.1.2 Nougat) for dozens of devices, and in recent months, have been working hard on Bliss-x86! Bliss-x86 was designed to run our custom Android ROM on any Intel x-86 device(PC,Laptop,Tablet,2in1, touch or non touch screen). When paired with powerful hardware and some additional User Interface enhancements.... Bliss-x86 is the best Android experience I've had! Fast, Fluid, a feature rich.... my personal/test device is a 3rd gen i7 with 8gb RAM. Recently, we are working with UDOO to iron out some of the remaining bugs specific to running Android OS on their device/s. We have the same hardware you have in this video, and are hoping to become the "recommended" version of Android for the Udoo-x86. We'd love it if you'd be willing to give our flavor of Android a go in an upcoming video! Our first hand development with UDOO and our years of experience are sure to get the best out of these boards, and present additional features only available in custom Android ROMs. Please let me know if this is something we can make happen, Team Bliss, Evan Galvin

You should try to use a little fan for the heatsink so the CPU wont thermal throttle under heavy load and keeps the turbo frequency of 2.24GHz even with something like prime95 :) But maybe that big passive heatsink is already enough ... may you can test it :)
Animal Facts (1 year ago)
Ubuntu with RetroPie x86 😊
WJMazepas (1 year ago)
Honestly i think that the mini PCs in Aliexpress or amazon are morth worth, because you can find a pc with a newer celeron, ou with a i3 for the price of the Ultra Udoo X86
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
Andrea Rovai actually refurbished. But when your talking about getting a way more capable system for cheaper it really doesn't matter to me. I buy all of my computers second hand "except video cards and hard drives"
An R (1 year ago)
yeah, but $100 is not the price of something new, it is the price of something used by someone else that you manage to get at a low price, isn't it?
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
+Andrea Rovai so I Like the Udoo x86 I also have the older Udoo quad. For the price it's not a bad unit but... I can buy small form factor Lenovo's with 500gb hd's 8 gb ram and an i5 4750t for $100 all day long at my local college. An Arduino board can Be optioned for 10-20 bucks. The udoo is a cool maker board non the less.
An R (1 year ago)
yeah, but that it's a laptop, it's another thing. You can't do Arduino-stuff with that. You can reprogram your door with that.
Oscar Torres (1 year ago)
will you be running retropie and recalbox wondering if the gamecube emulators will run on this?
Nick Sewatsky (1 year ago)
but can i play Crysis
Jeremy Lee Potocki (1 year ago)
This would still work great for a low powered arcade cabinet. If you use windows you can use the latest build of MAME with more games than Retropie x86. There is also Virtual Pinball, more customization options, etc. Plus it's silent to boot.
Nexus (1 year ago)
Curious to see the emulators the PI struggles on. Dreamcast, N64 Conkers FPS, etc. Thanks
Jose Cruz (1 year ago)
can't wait for retropi
NicoD (1 year ago)
Cool, but why did they make this so ugly? Looks like a graphics card of the early 90's.
NicoD (1 year ago)
Maybe make the board blue or black. A nice soldermask color like green on black. All the usb ports in front with the hdmi and the minidp's. Maybe stack the usb's(and add a fourth) and also stack the minidp's. I would put the dc jack in the back, and maybe the ethernet too, I don't like the look of that. Maybe a color code for the gpio headers like on the tinker board(I love the look of that). Then a retro looking black case that's a bit higher so the heatsink doesn't tower out of it. All that would not make it a better board, but if I would pay so much money for a sbc, then I would want it to look sexy too. Cheers
An R (1 year ago)
what would you change, if nothing mattered but aesthetics?
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
+Nico Dekerf it is pretty ugly
Ayinde Van Zandt (1 year ago)
Is it good for hyperspin arcade virtual pinball
Märten Reinaas (1 year ago)
Can you please test playing League of Legends or x86 Minecraft with it? Or maybe other games! :)
William Hart (1 year ago)
thanks ETA PRIME was wondering about that sbc can't wait for the linux and Android OS tests have a decent day
Hal Motley (1 year ago)
I'd love a Lakka test too. Push it to the limit. :-)
Mike McAloon (1 year ago)
Unless you really need the small size I don't see the need. I want a small pc for emulation up to dolphin/citra and I think you can get an i5 for cheaper
John Clark (1 year ago)
ETA PRIME is that an M73? We have some at work, they seem prone to overheating.
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
+Mike McAloon I actually have a super small Lenovo with an i5 and hd 4600 gpu I got it for $100 on Craigslist and it's much more powerful than this. It also has 8gb ram and a 500gb hd.
legoscratch (1 year ago)
Wow, nice definitely do some testing
Sidewinder1009 (1 year ago)
How much memory have you got allocated to Vram? You have 32 bit windows 10? I would think the 8gb would be much faster for any games

Maybe try the guide for GTA V from Lowspecgamer

Jeff Brantley (1 year ago)
great video as always bro. quick question do u think this will be able to emulate ps2?
Gabriel Storti (1 year ago)
Jeff Brantley thank you
Jeff Brantley (1 year ago)
Gabriel Storti he answered me on one of his other videos. And he hasn't found a single board that could handle ps2 emulation
Gabriel Storti (1 year ago)
Jeff Brantley I have the same question
NickDG (1 year ago)
Whoooohoooo been hoping and waiting you were getting one of these , I got the ultra version , currently running Batocera on it runs like a boss, but can't get the Batocera to boot off the EMMC chip :( , but loving the board
NickDG (1 year ago)
Yup im able to get Lakka to boot off the EMMC, cause when booting off the usb with lakka it gives you the option to install then you can choose the EMMC, but this option has not been added to the Batocera image, i hope it does soon, hope to see you do some builds with this board, i finished building my CNC machines about a month back, so im looking to building a miniRetro console with 2 8bitdo FC30 Pro controllers :), just have to get my head around Fusion 360 and design the board\console enclosure :)
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
NickDG I only booted batocera from a USB stick so far " haven't tested any games" I also tried Lakka and it also works great.

Anything you can do with the low volume on the channel? I always have to crank the volume on your channel, then the next video blows my ears out.
squalazzo (1 year ago)
disappointings? the fan and the hd power connectors, NOT standard, you need their fan and cables... and without a fan it will become very hot under load...
Tom Gellert (1 year ago)
Very cool...kinda out of my price range though :(
Christian Maaß (1 year ago)
Please test it with Retropie x86 :D
ETA PRIME (1 year ago)
+Christian Maaß most definitely
